  • Stage 1 remap

Anyone done a stage 1 remap? Been told I can get 270bhp without the need of upgraded pistons and rods????

    Told by who?

I'm sure you could get that but I doubt the engine would last long...

What WOULD you need in terms of upgrades to make a THP last with 270+HP?

          A different engine.

The THP has a number of known faults and a portion of their user base have returned theirs due to consistent engine failures post rebuild/replacement.

We can offer suggestions on how best to potentially limit these failures but if you're asking what needs to be done to obtain these figures I can't help but feel that you wouldn't be in the best position to look after it if/when something goes wrong.

To answer your question, you'll be looking at upgrading the internals for a start - Pistons, clutch and fuel pump at a minimum with the potential requirement for a better turbo/intercooler further down the line.

It's been done, I believe a user on here - albish current has his nearthe 300 mark but he's spent a lot of money and time getting it to that stage and I don't believe he's actually had a remap yet as his is a new engine as his last one blew up.

Is it all THP engines that have the faults or are there by chance any DS3R's or normal DS3 without engine problems???

All DS3R's were built over 2010/2011 and all use the 150THP engine (the bad one) although I'm not sure if any which have had engine replacements will have moved to the 155/175.

Ok I'll give it some serious thought before deciding what to do, need to read my warranty pack see what's cover in case of a Big Bang!!!!

Personally - I'd wait till it's out of warranty before playing with it.

I had a DSport 150 and after pushing mine to the 211 mark my top end blew which ended up costing around £1500. Money that could have been better spent elsewhere
