Is the engine the same design as previous THPs? ie the engineering and principles that created carbon build up will still be present.
One for Tsar maybe?
Believe so. It's THP so GDI so inlet valves miss the fuel wash over to keep them clean. Think there has been some sort of revamp but basically same engine, although more info should be forthcoming.
Ed-: a fair few of the Racing's engines were going within the first 5-6k miles of ownership, and certainly by 20k miles

I've still not seen the DS3 performance models, however the THP engine will be the same block as before, with only the cylinder head being the significant difference, here is what I wrote in a different thread to answer to Chris Blue.
The bore/stroke will be exactly the same 85.8mm stroke 77mm bore 1598cc the cylinder head will be the significant change, variable timing and lift on the inlet camshaft with just variable timing on the exhaust camshaft, developed by BMW sold on licence to PSA, the PCV although redesigned, simply extends the time period before any significant carbon build up becomes an issue, it still will be an issue as the cars age, however, with very careful ECU timing phase parameter programming, this is the key to help reduce carbon build up, hope this helps answer some of your questions.
Performance Powered By Thought Engineered Horsepower
Despite all this Performance addenda, DS is keen to stress that the DS 3 Performance is not a full-on GTI-style model.
Eric Apode, vice president of product and development at DS Automobiles, told evo that while the DS3 Racing was inspired by Citroen’s WRC campaign, the new DS 3 Performance is ‘absolutely not a sports car – more of a grand tourer’.
A stiffly set-up, track-biased car would jar with the brand’s luxurious image, and while the Performance does leave room for an even hotter model in the DS 3 range, this won’t be a track special either.
The Performance ‘has to be an everyday car,’ said Apode. ‘For city driving, highways, and high speed driving – you can go quickly, but it will be fairly quiet, in the spirit of a GT’. Apode added that the brand will not develop a full sports car model. ‘Out of the question,’ he confirmed.
SO technically it is NOT a Racing according to DS???? Haha
Good find Daniel. Comments leaves the door open for a sport version. It's still 200+bhp, and lowered suspension did I read?
Yeah it also goes on...
At the same time, it boasts the same power and torque figures as Peugeot’s most potent 208, the GTi by Peugeot Sport. Its 1.6-litre THP turbocharged petrol develops 205bhp and 221lb ft of torque, which should result in performance figures similar to the Pug’s 6.5sec 0-62mph run and 143mph top speed.
It also uses a Torsen limited-slip differential, with a six-speed manual gearbox and shorter gear ratios than other DS 3s. It’s 15mm lower than its siblings too, with a 26mm wider front track and 14mm wider rear track. 323mm front brake discs with brembo callipers and 249mm rear discs do the stopping.
It would be nice, but then with comments such as "Apode added that the brand will not develop a full sports car model. ‘Out of the question,’ he confirmed."
It makes me think that they don't really have any interest in doing so. Wont fit with their 'Luxury' brand.

DS 3 Performance: matching performance with versatility
The New DS 3 models will also be available in high-performance versions: the DS 3 Performance. These distinctive and dynamic cars combine efficiency with comfort and driving ease with athleticism.
The pedigree of the DS 3 Performance can be neatly summed up in a few key figures: 208 bhp, 300 Nm of torque and CO2 emissions of 125 g/km. These qualities are a result of the tremendous work of the DS Performance teams, who chose to equip the car with a 1.6 THP S&S engine mated to a 6-speed MCM gearbox with shorter gearing (special ratios). The DS 3 Performance is also available with Torsen® limited slip differential for outstanding traction and roadholding.
For even more agility – and all with complete safety – a considerable amount of development work went into the suspension and braking. Ground clearance has been lowered by 15 mm, while front and rear track have been widened (by 26mm at the front and 14 mm at the back). The DS 3 Performance is also fit with new 323-mm brake discs at the front with special callipers and 249-mm at the back. Naturally, style was also high on the list of the teams’ priorities. Some parts were redesigned to showcase and underline the vehicle’s dynamic qualities at first glance: a special twin tailpipe, carbon side mouldings, a new sill panel strip, and Matt Black wing extenders. Not forgetting the vehicle interior with, for example, bucket seats in leather and alcantara, with special embroidery.
To echo the model’s impressive performance while offering yet more personalisation possibilities, customers will be able to choose from two trim levels on the Hatchback and Cabrio. The first features six combinations of body and roof colours on the Hatchback and four combination on the Cabrio. The second, “Black Special”, heightens the athletic and refined personality of the car with matte black body paint and a Brillant gold roof (on the Hatchback). The dark body colour is punctuated by carbon touches on the side strips. The interior echoes the exterior with a Brillant gold dashboard and gearstick handle and additional comfort and safety equipment. For the ultimate in detailing, an interior Carbon Pack and an exterior decoration kit are available to further enhance the DS 3 Performance.
