    Hey guys

Sorry to cause such a stir with my post and not to be back on the forum for a while but I've been on holiday.

I spoke to a tuning specialist and in simple terms, as I'm a simple girl and no techie expert, but he said.... The fuel flows around this design of engine differently, the fuel passes to the cylinders and not via the valves. He then said that this creates a foaming discharge and that there is increased heat. The foaming or carbonisation then sits in the inlet valves and is what causes the performance problems. If any of the carbonisation gets into the cylinders this creates scratches and blockages, which causes the engine blow. When I asked him about the use of premium unleaded, flushing of the valves or their replacement as a cure, he said there was no cure, its the design of the engine, no repair will be a permanent resolution and its a design flaw with this engine. He also said this wasn't limited to Citroen but all THP engines to some degree, including the Mini, Peugeot etc. When I asked what cars didn't suffer, I was told to switch to Golf, Audi, and alike.

In the meantime the garage and Citroen UK have gone down the route of insulting my intelligence, saying I should give them a reasonable chance to make the repair, so are offering the repair of the inlet valves and an extra one year warranty, which I have to pay for in advance then reclaim. I have also had a buyout offer from the dealership, based on market value and wear and tear, which is just absolutely joke. They appear to have forgotten that its their car that has the major issue.

Suppose the techie was right that there's no "Cure". But issues can be kept to a minimum with a bit of looking after on most THPs, but the Racings do appear to suffer more.
Take the money Heidi, even if you are loosing a bit.

Would love to take the money but the offer is £12500, I paid £21k just 18 months ago!

The new Racing I was offered started at about 24k and dropped as low as 20k after 2 months or so, so 21.5 sounds a fairly good deal when you bought
Bearing in mind it would have dropped around 3k soon as you drove it off the forecourt (A Racing offerd to me 6 weeks old just over 1k miles at £19k)

The you have owned it for that 18 months to drop a futher £6k is certainly not good
But its not absolutely attrocious believe it or not (Altho some will tell me I'm wrong)
Try get another grand, then take your money and run- or take the offer of a new THP. Much more reliable than a Racing, and not far off as quick. (0.8 secs i think- then you can performance modify ;-)

Purely how i would think of course. Good luck.

Thanks Chris, I'm thinking of having a look at the TT 2.0 TFSI!

In his own words "not diplomatic", if I had just joined a forum and was subject to "not diplomatic" I would reconsider. Knowledge is one thing, being elitist is something else. I applaud and support those that started and run any club, but to look down upon those that are not part of the 'in crowd' is wrong.

                      .
Or look at how much it would cost to make it right compared with how much you would lose with the dealer.

Not entirely sure what you mean?

Czar has been here for years with tech advice and in the past this has been diminished by those that refuse to take advice or believe anyone else could know more than they do.

                        The in crowd? Huh?

You shot down advice given by saying he was an arrogant key board warrior?
