Hey guys
Sorry to cause such a stir with my post and not to be back on the forum for a while but I've been on holiday.
I spoke to a tuning specialist and in simple terms, as I'm a simple girl and no techie expert, but he said.... The fuel flows around this design of engine differently, the fuel passes to the cylinders and not via the valves. He then said that this creates a foaming discharge and that there is increased heat. The foaming or carbonisation then sits in the inlet valves and is what causes the performance problems. If any of the carbonisation gets into the cylinders this creates scratches and blockages, which causes the engine blow. When I asked him about the use of premium unleaded, flushing of the valves or their replacement as a cure, he said there was no cure, its the design of the engine, no repair will be a permanent resolution and its a design flaw with this engine. He also said this wasn't limited to Citroen but all THP engines to some degree, including the Mini, Peugeot etc. When I asked what cars didn't suffer, I was told to switch to Golf, Audi, and alike.
In the meantime the garage and Citroen UK have gone down the route of insulting my intelligence, saying I should give them a reasonable chance to make the repair, so are offering the repair of the inlet valves and an extra one year warranty, which I have to pay for in advance then reclaim. I have also had a buyout offer from the dealership, based on market value and wear and tear, which is just absolutely joke. They appear to have forgotten that its their car that has the major issue.
