  • Headlight bulb upgrades

Hi, I don't know whether it's just me, but does anybody else find that the standard bulbs are pretty dim? I'm looking to upgrade to get rid of the yellow-ish hue and have brighter lights from the standard bulbs, and was wondering whether anybody'd tried the Philips Diamond Vision H7 5000k bulbs? Also, would I need a HID conversion kit for these bulbs? (can't seem to find that out anywhere). Thanks

Standard lamps are absolut rubbish- mind you, they are the same on the wifes Fiesta too
Cant help you with all the fancy LEDs/HID stuff- just upgraded to Osram Nightbreakers- they do a good job :-)

I use Osram Nightbreaker Ultimate for the H1 and H7 Lamps and Osram Blue Vision for the sidelights. A far better illumination and also a whiter light

I've replaced mine with Phillips White vision, very impressed with them. Decent white light and good road illumination as well.

Not the best quality, but you can see a difference!

That's mine. The White Vision H7 bulbs also come with side lights to match which is quite handy! They run at 4300K.

Thanks for your replies everyone. Those Philips white visions look great, and they're road legal too which is the preferable option =D. Unfortunately the diamond vision's aren't, presumably because they're 5000k. Would you mind posting a picture of what the sidelights look like please? Cheers

Sorry ryan I can't at the moment as I'm having some Internet issues. Taken me 5 minutes to load this topic! They're the same white as the dipped though. You can see them in the video at the start.

I didn't think much of the phillips one, especially after they both broke after 2/3 months - changed to osram about 2 years ago and they're still going, and much brighter.

mk2k41, which of the bulbs did you replace? H7, H1 and 501? or just H7 and 501?

Just thought I'd give you an update - one of the bulbs blew today (osram nightbreakers) - just under 3 months.

Not the best life - I could put it down to a dodgy batch.

Although I must say I was wincing everytime the engine started after the 'eco' stopped & and the engine started again - there is quite a pulse that goes through them!

Interestingly the field from just the one bulb was still pretty decent!

Will be purchasing another set when I can swing by the shop, and give them another shot.
