I've spend a lot of time reviewing options for upgrading my intake on my ds3 thp.
The only kit currently available for the ds3 thp is the forge induction kit that a lot of people here have bought.
However I live in Cyprus and we have a long hot summer (average day temperatures of 38degrees / night temperatures 22-23 degrees). I am not sure if an open type filter in the engine bay will give me any bhp gains considering the higher temperatures in my county ? I am not interested about induction sound am interested about performance. I have also contacted forge but their reply wasn't very clear ..they replied me with the following email:
"Thank you for the enquiry.
We have not had the opportunity to test under the hot climate conditions you live in, but it is probably a fair observation to make that the open cone type filters are more prone to heat soak and you would not see the benefits of the free flow open cone filter that we see in central, western and north western Europe.
Regular maintenance will ensure the filter will meet basic function requirements in dry, dusty conditions."
I don't know if buying the forge intake will give me any gains ? (its a larger air filter compared to panel /factory filter..on the other hand I think it will absorb a lot of engine high temperatures). ? On the other hand performance panel filters are inside the airbox so they don't absorb a lot of hot air from the engine bay but they are known for not giving any performance gains.
(I have already done an ecu remanp/ full exhaust and a front mount intercooler)
