  • Turbo replacement

    Hi people,

Does anyone one knows the exact turbo used in DS3R ? I know it is BorgWarner but I don't have the exact part number etc.

Also if you have knowledge on Turbos please share and enlighten us .

If I change the turbo on 1.6 THP DS3 what else do I need to tune ( for instance any pipes etc )

    and I found this there : http://turbosupplycenter.com/en/airw...299887115.html

This is just a pre research so I am just gathering information as much as I can .

        From Citroens website........................

CITROËN DS3 RACING :Like no other

Based on the top of the range DS3 DSport THP 150, DS3 Racing is modified and hand-finished by the Citroën Racing team in their special rally workshop; DS3 Racing is like no other on the road. Modifications include:

-Re-mapped of the Engine Control Unit (ECU).
-Modified sports exhaust system with the addition of a sports silencer.
-Bespoke turbo-charger system: Integrated carbon-trimmed components and specialist motor sports equipment.
-Widening of the front and rear tracks by 30mm (and lowering the car by 15mm).
        -Stiffer suspension springs.
-Up-rated braking system to handle the additional horsepower.
-Sports steering, specific mapping and a modified control system for the “215/40 R18W Bridgestone Potenza tyres with ‘reverse rim technology’.
-The front wheels get 4-piston Racing callipers and special disc-brakes.
-The ESP has been adapted to complement the sports handling, and can be fully disengaged according to preference.
-Adapted front and rear shock absorbers.

The DS3R has the same Turbo as the RCZ with 200hp and the same Turbo as the M*ni Cooper S Works.

Some things about the DS3R are funny.

          Like the wider track.
This is only because the Tires are 10mm wider and the ET value is 17 instead of 25
So the track is 36mm wider

And about the Steering and ESP.
If you want to, you can adapt every DS3 with the same values as the DS3R with Lexia III
So when you know the settings from the “R” you can also do this with your THP

The turbo is the same outside, just has a slightly different cartridge.

Btw, the ESP on THP's can be fully disengaged and doesn't come back on until restarting the engine.

              Thanks all,

I think they have the same turbo like you said but with some modifications . Anyone has checked the linked that I shared? As far as I know you need to also modify pipes etc to withstand the increased pressure. I am still searching probably will send a mail to borg warner , I will share if I got an answer.

The THP and the R have identical inlet pipes, apart from the turbo internals being different, the only other difference on the engine side is a completely different ECU unit.

According to the engine codes and a Wikipedia article, the DS3R engine is based on the 175HP version.

The THP150 has engine codes EP6DT and EP6CDT (later models) and the Racing has engine EP6DTS, which according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_engine is a higher output engine to start with.

I'll try and remember to take a photo of the Turbo on mine later and we can then compare it to a photo of one from a THP150 (if someone could oblige).

Your second breather hose joint just before the turbo inlet looks a lot neater than mine!
