  • Any one fitted a after market air filter or induction kit on a vti 1.6

Would like to have a look at a induction kit or filter for the vti 1.6 does it make a difference in the sound of the car and a bit more pokey?

The air filter looks well tucked away in the engine bay :-/

If so point me in the right direction please also post a pic if you have one or vid

    Cheers guys

It's simples, just fit a cone filter onto the end of the pipe.

So then it sucks in all the warm air off the engine ? Was after some pics the filter and pipes are well tucked in there so would be nice to see to get a idea of what I'm looking at and if its worth it

Performance Air filters and cold air induction kits are all a con there is no performance gain to be had on a street car driven on the road.

All you can do is make the engine bay prettier, the car a bit noisier and sound and or look faster perhaps at best.

Not true, on a n/a engine like a VTi yeah maybe but on a turbo you'll see small gains - maybe up to about 3 horsepower. Depends on how restrictive the stock intake is.

            It's small but a gain's a gain

You won't see any gains, even with a turbo engine
              IMO they do very little.

I'm assuming you have the facts to back up such a bold statement?

                    Yes I do:
A guy in the Briskoda Forum had his car remapped by AmD (Fabia vRS 130 Tdi)
I too had this done (Same car)...but retained the OEM air intake and panel filter
His car was then put on the rollers at 'Awesome GTi' in Irlam, Manchester.....with a K&N cone filter fitted like the one described
                    His car gave 165 bhp
Mine with the same remap and OEM parts gave 172 bhp

I saw gains with mine compared to standard...

Maybe you have had a different personal experience.

Sounds like dodgey rollers to me, same car with a 7 bhp difference ?

In the same breath mine was ran on a Dyno before and after without a simple panel filter and gave an additional 6BHP.

                          Looks like the jury's out.

This is a false comparison different cars even with the same type engine and accessories will put out different HP on a dyno. A single car will even put out different numbers from different dynos.

                              Nothing dodgy about the rollers
My personal experience of replacement induction etc.. tells me they are a waste of time and money
