Complete glove box re-model with LCD screen project

Yes the latter Liam, I am putting a red Perspex cover over the glove box as temperatures should remain ok and then just open when I need to use. The Perspex will lift out if needed to recharge battery pack or to take bits out.
Got things nicely underway last night and have wireless internet installed easily plus have a mobile 4g wifi unit on the way to also have in the car!

Wes just remember the more devices plugged into the Raspi the more juice it needs to power it.

Yes, thanks Toxic, the only things plugged in will be the Edimax Wifi dongle, the adapted for wireless keyboard/touchpad and then a powered hub for the ODB2 and possible small hard drive. Still looking at options though regarding hard drive in terms of media centre ODB2 is first and main priority as currently using an N900 Nokia phone for media centre

you should be able to use a fast SDCard upto 32gb, depends on what you indend on storing on the device. if you think the Raspi is underpowered then go for a shivaplug or something like that.

At the moment the Pi is powered fine and seems VERY stable with the anker pack. I'm running a 16gb card in it but made sure it was a class 10.

Won't be doing much more before weekend as funeral to go to Friday and few bits to sort before that.

But... It's the start in a fun and windy road!

Been looking at screens and the like and finally found a cheap solution. A parking sensor screen is being ordered next week and then I will butcher it so it can be powered via USB. The thing is, I'm very tempted by an Archos 5 I've found cheap... Pi project is still go though

Well this has taken some time in sorting and no nearer getting a 'perfect' solution!

Struggling to get a cheap good screen do to everything, but now have a 250Gb Archos 5 which is being put in the glovebox tonight hopefully. The Perspex was a nightmare to cut, so have thin MDF and will plastidip red. The only issue though is the ECU Reader using Torque; this will only work on the 7" tablet and not on the Archos. For now, I will use the tablet intermittently, but obviously long-term I will incorporate the Pi.

I'll post some pics later of how its going, and how many holes I've accidentally drilled in places (this count is currently zero....)

Haha no rattle at all, but to be fair, I've never had a problem with it
