6000 oil change

Just changed the oil and filter for the first time as the car has just passed the 6000 mile mark. The dipsticks aren't the easiest to read and I've always thought the reading was on the plus side. Anyway I drained out 4 litres of oil from what should be a 3.8litre maximum, so it was under more pressure than it should have been. Added 3.5litres and its now 2 notches below the max level. Filter was one tricky fu**er to fit and find the plastic thread....gives fumbling about in the dark a new meaning!!!

4.2 litres for petrol model and 27mm deep socket needed for filter cap.

Sump level has no effect on oil pressure.

Its not that tricky, just need to remove the plastic/rubber ducting. The real pain is removing the sump cover as the bolts may well be rusted enough to rip the clips out of the plastic as one of mine did. I would suggest giving them a good 3-in-1 before trying to loosen them. Make sure you buy the sump plug washer as well.

Checked the Manual- 4.25 litres for mine (THP)
SFG- Righto, good tip. How many bolts on the sump cover- what is it, heavy duty plastic or something?

Chris its rubber plastic, you only need to undo the rear three as it will flop down then (that's on my 2010 150)

Gonna change the oil and filter soon, (September end) and got a replacement sump plug washer sent thru- only bout 30p ... that's good
Thing is, it looks like crushable copper- does that sound right?

5 litres oil on order soon, may even sort the photos and make a guide

Just checking out the oil change eqpt needed for my change tomorrow
That large black plastic nut with the star shape in the middle, below the air intake duct is the oil filter i think?
Is that a cover, or does it need unscrewing?

Needs unscrewing Chris, a licker of a job the first time you do it, just becomes a pain in the hoop every time after.
