Yep fuel burns cleaner if using quality fuel, just the inlet ports are not affected by the burn of the fuel. you will however get carbon build in the combustion chamber, exhaust port, Turbo splines(exhaust) Lambda Sensors, Catalytic convertor if using crap fuel.
Fuel cleaner like BGK44 will help with that and so does the full terraclean service, which uses its own fuel and cleaning agents to run the engine for approximately 30 minutes.

Driving style certainly has an impact. Been confirmed by someone who oversees damage claims / recalls / warranty issues for PSA. He told my father in law it's better to drive the car hard, get in those higher revs when it's up to temperature. Less chance of carbon build up that way.
Btw, he also admitted (off the record) the known issues with the timing chain and tensioner..

Two weeks since I had the pleasure of Jamie at SP Tuning and the Walnut blasting. Car is the DS3 150 THP with 41K on clock. Car was running like a bag of sherbet ( not the word I would normally use). Car had been back to Citroen a few times but never really fixed issue. Now goes like the little rocket it was supposed to be. Fuel consumption has gone from low 40 to high 40 nudging 50. All this at a 1/5th of the cost quoted by local worship. If you have a misfire/hesitation and it’s not the cam chain Jamie is the go to guy. I drove up from Dorset had two nights in a hotel and still spent less than half the price I could have paid.
