    If it's any help,
I noticed my cruise control would play up intermittently in winter, either the brake or clutch switch was giving a false reading.
Now it's warm weather I can't get it to play up... Might at some stage just replace both switches as a precaution, or just give the switches some time in the oven:mad:
When this fault was present, it would just show the two lines.

Additional to that the pause button would sometimes stick on the stalk, had to mash it a bit and now it works fine.
I also managed to stop it from working by accidentally leaving the handbrake on a tiny bit...

My speed limiter always remembers the set speed, it's only the cruise control speed that resets each time I think..... unless I have a weird version

That sounds right to me. When you turn on cruise control the first time after starting the car (with +), it will be set as the current speed.

There is a reason for that, I'll give you a minute to think about it first

I assumed it was so that you don't spend time setting it each time you turn it on Better to keep your eyes on the road !

Close enough, imagine what would happen if you turned on the cruise control at 30mph when it was last set for 80mph...!

It would probably take a while, 4th isn't the fastest accelerating gear at 30

That can happen anyway, I've turned cruise back on at 45mph ish when it was last set at motorway speeds

I had an automatic Audi A4 Avant for a rental car once, that was always fun to play with the cruise control. It would try and get to the assigned speed as soon as possible and because it was an automatic it would drop it a few gears, then maximum throttle up to the desired speed then change to top gear and cruise (it was a 7 speed).
