THP power loss

What a pain in the arse ...... Gona wait for the problem to happen again then take it straight down hopefully if I show them the error codes and this post they will actually do something this time lol

I've had my car just over 2 months and have loved owning it - THP 155 2012 model

However three times I've experienced the 'hesitation' on the motorway/dual carriageway while accelerating hard in high gear. Also when on a cold start it sounds worse than normal.

I recognise the symptoms as I had the timing chain tensioner, and later the whole system replaced on my 2007 MINI Cooper S - which had some of the same major issues as some earlier THP's.

Trouble is - I'm 95% sure what the issue is! but how do I get a dealer to agree and authorise the warranty work

are we getting a pattern starting here as the 155's are getting older? but I can imagine the answer you will get ................Err cannot see any faults logged mate .....Jog on

Get it to the garage and get the timing checked. If your not going the dealers make sure they have the proper timing kit to check it...it only needs to be out a fraction to cause the problems.

I have a friend with a 62 plate DSport Plus 155 - they've had all the 'old' common issues, loss of power and hesitation, clutch squeal under load, sudden coolant loss. Dealers have refused to acknowledge any, as they're hard to replicate etc

Hi guys .... Was driving my car today and the power went yet again ..... Wasn't happy but out came the new OBD2 and revealed an error called (p2178 - system too rich off idle ) has any one got any ideas ??? And my car is now out off warranty shall I risk taking it back to citroen or will they try to charge me even it has been to them twice and both times they couldn't find them problem even though the codes are clearly there ..... Anyone got any advice lol

Great. Mine had the same thing. Happened once and recovered by itself. Dealer found nothing wrong, resetted the code and has been working fine since (last fall). The weirdest thing is that I didn't get any warning lights on the dash. Did you?

Nahh neither did I 👎 was yours losing power like the turbo wasn't there ?

Do these things happen cos of driving style, as ive never an issue with mine . or am i just lucky

If its the same problem I had ................no warning lights no fault codes
The timing can fail and recover loads of times while driving and this does not flag up any errors

I've never had to do one yet, most are still under warranty.
Bought all the cam timing tools a couple of years back ready to do them and never needed it.

Try to think of it like this, you buy a toaster and remove the grills in favour of something more powerful that now burns your toast, do you think the toaster company would replace the new grills under warranty??

What if I had replaced the fuse in the plug with a better one due to the OEM fuse being of poor quality and constantly blowing, muffin anybody?

Yes, exactly. Turbo and some, torque was missing altogether and didn't rev up from 2500 rpm. After parking the car for about an hour the problem was gone.
