I doubt. Sounds like you have a vacuum leak?

Maybe because your timing is out the ECU is making the mixture richer to stop det (Pinking) and stopping a meltdown

          • Just curious because I took my filter out and put the old one back in and the power was back straight away and the errors had gone ..... Actually so confused

              • Ive seen this a couple times before on here, with putting in a (Pipercross) performance filter.
Also, after installation of a cone filter induction kit, where the owner just returned the air filter to standard. (Couple years ago on here) There didnt seem any explanation.
Never had an issue with my KN Panel filter, did 12,000 on my last THP, then recharged it and its done 13,000 this THP. Not to say it wouldnt happen with a KN Filter.

No explanation ever come out of it, and even the Tuners recommend the Pipercross filters
Something to do with the sensors maybe...fuel to air ratio and all that
In fact one Tuner recommends sticking to the paper OEM filter and change it out every year, (Costly in the long run, and no perfromance gain)

                • I thought when timing slipped the mixture became lean only? Or so i was lead to believe, i would guess when the timing slips it slips in only one direction, the direction which the chain runs in, making the valve open in a way that only creates lean running, or something like that... any elaboration would be appreciated!

                  • SPT Tuning reckon theres a glitch on the standard ECU map of the 150/5 making it run a little rich under certain circumstances- again, that comment is on here somewhere

I think if it slips and does go lean the ecu may over compensate and go megga rich to stop det

You could call it a 'proper-map' as the OEM data ive seen does look suspect.

                            • Well, I have 100% standard THP, even the filters, and got the error (once).

Same symptoms as mine although seems to running fine you would probably find it well down on power if put on a rolling road as I did
