I had seen something on here before about it happening so left it until the morning to determine if it was the same. Unfortunately it seems it might be. Exactly in the same way Gar mentioned in the first post. Over the course of the weekend it came and went, with it being gone more often that not. I already had it booked in for some bodywork this week so they are looking at it at the moment. Gutted just doesn't cut it. I'll post what they come back with and see what you all think.
Hums the tune of "another one bites the dust" quietly to himself ...

The good news is that, if the technicians know what they're doing, they can fix it.

Sounds exactly like mine too. Timing chain, pulley, tensioner replaced. Won't make a difference. Then coolant temperature sensor. Still won't do owt. Then replace high pressure fuel pump. Might then work!!!

      • Well Citroen came back and advised its an Oil issue. They are ordering some new parts and have reset the engine faults for the time being. I've seen something similar to this on the forums before but can't seem to find it. Was there something in info rapids? I can't check them now since they were taken down.

So it's not just an "oil issue" then ... otherwise presumably they'd just do an engine flush as per the IR and change the oil?

Anyway, the IR for the wrong oil only applied to the early-build THPs like mine. I'd be interested to know what new parts they've ordered!

            • Hi guys, im new here! So hello ;-)
Just want to join in with this major issue that seems to be going around.

Firstly gar074; is your car alright now?

Mine was having the same power issues strating last month, took it in and had engine oil & filter changed along with the system being cleaned.... 3 weeks later problem came back.
Has been in garage for a week now, timing chain/belt has been changed (apparently it had stretched and missed 2 teeth?). Im picking it up tomorrow.

I have a feeling it won't be long before it happens again with the new belt? ;-( any opinions on this?

p.s: I have a dsport 2010 reg 16k miles (one of the first ones on the road), before everyone went mad buying them - there are too many on the roads now! lol

                Hi there- welcome aboard!

Mine's 95% sorted, I reckon. I still get the occasional stutter - usually at least once a day, and it's over in an instant - and the mid-range pick-up seems a bit sluggish (although that could just be because I've been driving the wife's diesel a lot lately), but I reckon there's no point taking it back to the dealer until it breaks, or pops up a warning light.

Most people who've had the belt & tensioner replaced have found that that's sorted the problem. Some have needed a new fuel pump. Mine needed a new VVT unit. It's all a bit of a lottery, really.

It doesn't half go well when it's working properly though, which is presumably why we're prepared (most of us, anyway) to put up with the hiccups.

It helps if you have a dealer who gives a damn. Mine's been very good. Others haven't been so fortunate.

                  • The timing chain has been upgraded to a higher specification....My car has been fine since it was changed...Still get the occasional misfire on motorway runs in 5th & 6th at 2750rpm....Dont do much motorway driving so not an issue for me.

                    • Good to hear!
Picked mine up this morning, and all seems fine! Steering seems heavy but may be because i have been driving another car and gotton use to it...?

They also washed and polished it too! Saves me a job over the weekend :-)
Happy to have it back! To feel proud again.
Didnt check the revs cruising at 70mph, use to be about 2400rpm. Ill have to check next time.

                              • I wouldn't be surprised if this issue didn't make national press, there's far too many people having issues now.
