this tuner is right about the stock BOV, havent heard much problems on stock cars but when the boost is raised it does start to fail, it is a diaghram and with the heat and extra boost on a remapped car it simply is not strong enough, i have heard horror stories of the BOV breaking up and entering the turbo... here is mine, as you see the faint ring around indicates starting to fail..
i replaced with an aluminium forge recirc valve, not the spacer type that goes TISH like chav but complete replacement
also you can change internals of original BOV to one from an S3, S3 is stronger internals

Been told the replacement valve internals are from part 06F145710G which has been posted up here before, but needs a 25% uprated spring
Theres a thread titled "VW DV Valve upgrade" on this site which goes into more detail
Course the Forge one at £200 would be best, but noticeable as lovely new Ally.
IMO The diaphragm will go eventually, even if no higher than OEM temperatures around. Just a matter of time
Whats the "S3" indicate Colganraz?sigpicJog on Noddy

do you mean the diaphragm on the original uprated part going after a matter of time chris? I think my stock BOV was the original that came on the car which will have lasted 5years before near death lol. Ido like the forge recirc valve, I got a good deal on mine was around £120 delivered as it was ex display stock, all that was missing was a 6mm bolt! as you say it does like nice and shiny

Colganraz- £120 you got a decent deal there. Was it easy to fit- not a lot to it, is there? Would get one tomorrow for that price.Yes, OEM Will go eventually IMO, and what Ive been told. Gonna have a look at mine early summer, prob have done around 15k by then. How many miles had yours done by the time of the photo?
Cyclone- Ah right. Audi S3, should have know that. Thanks.
Ed- read threads on the Peugeot site, that the OEM valve has gone as low as 10k miles. Think the average is a lot higher than that. Depends on how the vehicle is driven, and quality of the original part I expectLast edited by Chris_Blue; 01-01-2014, 10:55.sigpicJog on Noddy

to fit it you need to remove the air box and all the air pipes, then you remove the map/maf sensor (cant remember which one it is called) and there is an aluminium spacer with a hose attachment which you place into the sensor and put back with a new longer screw... then you run silicone hose from the map/maf to a solenoid valve you get in the kit, then you run 2 pieces of silicone hose from solenoid to the forge BOV, unclip the harness to old BOV and clip into solenoid valve with a new adaptor you get in the kit, take off old BOV by removing 3x allen screw and replace with forge BOV, then put all the air box/pipes back in... it shouldnt really take more than half hour or so and you get full fitting instructions in the box, i think thats all, must have been 5month ago i put mine in.
i think car had covered 40k roughly when i took stock BOV off

Some people who have been remapped, and want an unnoticeable (And cheaper at £50) and easier than to swap, then just change the internals (With upgraded spring )
Not good at links, but search S3 valve Part 06F145710G on ebay and valve comes up at round £38,50. Jamie at SPT said in the past he could supply the uprated springs
Not sure if that still holds (In the other thread detailed)
Makes me smile we all consider doing these things to protect the engine, and then they are warranty breakers!
ED- Thanks for the talk through Colganraz. Not too bad a job then.Last edited by Chris_Blue; 01-01-2014, 11:14.sigpicJog on Noddy

Just to clarify aswell forge make 2 valves, one is the forge recirc kit @ £200 and one is just a spacer @ around £60, the spacer just goes between stock BOV and turbo, and vents boost to atmosphere to make your car sound like s*it
i would have probably gone down the route of internal parts replacement but i couldnt be arsed messing around with it, was much easier just to buy a kit and replace it than risk down time on the car if something went wrong.. I would probably just have replaced the original BOV to be honest if the car wasnt mapped
