Yeah, according to the log book they got the first couple done at Citroen and those following at alternate mechanics (as legally it can be serviced elsewhere without voiding warranty). Citroen service centres are not terribly abundant in Sydney which is why I assume this was the case.

It is exactly why I specifically took it to a Citroen centre though. Good thing I did!

Update on my car, 7 months later...

So my car had to go back to Citroen because the fuel pipe came off the engine. While it was being fitted with a new fuel pipe connector they discovered oil leaking from the tappet cover gasket. So that was replaced. Got the car back after 2 days. Immediately had bad super knocking followed by anti pollution fault and car going into limp-home mode. So back it went. Got report back that engine needed de-coking (only 6 months and 6000 miles after its last de-coking!) and that water pump had open circuit and needed replacing (odd, seeing the car was not overheating so I'm sure the water pump is just fine but whatever - water pump job covered by extended warranty)

De-coking on the other hand costing a fortune. Dealer refuses to cover the cost. Worried that this coking-up of the inlet valves will simply recur every 6 months.

I wish the damned thing had caught fire when the fuel line came adrift! At least then insurance would have paid out!

It shouldn't be every 6 months unless you do 50k a year

I'm guessing every 20-25k miles for the inlet valves clean- goes with the territory I spose.

Oil change every 4 month too. Did one recently and fitted the magnetic sump plug, so be interesting how that goes.

          Update:

Got car back after paying a fortune for decarbonizing and water pump.

After I got home, I noticed the electric cooling fan was running after turning off the engine. This went on for almost 10 minutes. Eventually had to pull the battery terminal to get it to stop.

Decided to take the car back to Citroen immediately.

The following happened in short order:

Battery died. Probably as a result of the fan running. Called the AA to replace it.

          Set off again.

Anti-pollution fault light came on again. Stopped to look at engine. Serious oil leaks from both PCV hoses, one PCV hose loose. Oil all over tappet cover (gasket just replaced this Monday) Oil leaking from cylinder head gasket.

Set off again to Citroen, thinking of creative ways to yell at service personnel.

Then I pull up at a light. Wait for green. Pull off. Someone entered the road from a junction ahead. Applied brakes. Pedal rock hard, could not depress pedal at all. No brakes at all, complete failure. Had to swerve, ended up on the sidewalk, eventually stopped when I hit a bollard. Car bumper smashed. Radiator holed. Terrible noises from radiator fan. Oil leaking profusely from all over the engine.

So now the car has been towed by insurer to the assessors.

Now what? Do I have a good case to sue the dealer for gross negligence, danger to life and limb and for just being complete plonkers in general?

I will be speaking to a solicitor on Monday morning.

An update on mine - I ended up having the problem again, called up citroen service centre to ask / book it in and the mechanic told me to buy a $10 fuel system cleaner bottle and let it run. Took a long drive that weekend and it fixed up. A couple of tanks later it happened again. So I have just put it in for 2 tanks (1 per tank) back to back and will let it go there to see if it comes back. If it does after this I'll book it in, but $20 is a lot cheaper than what an engine clean will be, so worth a shot!

For me personally it hasn't actually cost me anything yet except for my patience! Haha it has never actually stopped driving at all and when it does start working properly I remember why I love it!

If this round doesn't fix it and it ends up costing me to get the service centre to look at it then I think I'll be less positive...

Hey. Sorry to bring up this thread again.

I have a 2013 DSport. Owned it about 2 years and currently has about 55000 miles. Haven't had a bad word to say about it until this week.

It started with an engine warning light so promptly took it in to the dealer. They advised me it showed fuel fault and should be fine once the filter has been changed so booked it in for a full service. Coupled with new tyres and a full service, £360 later. The engine warning light came on within 12 hours of getting it back.

Once I filled it with diesel the warning light went off. I discussed with with the dealer and they said if it comes back on to let them know.

Unfortunately it came back with a vengeance tonight and has lost all power. No engine noise, knocking or smells. Just a total loss of power.

Problem is, it's 3 months out of warranty. Has anyone had any problems like this and how have you presented these problems to the dealer? Even if it is out of warranty, the dealer should replace if it's a well known fault, surely?

If it were me I'd get it back to the same dealer and ask them to look at it again as it's an ongoing issue. Keep it polite and calm as you may need them to approach Citroen for a contribution towards costs.
