I don't recall seeing this problem before ragtop, although I was without internet for 3m a while back Hopefully when the others wake up someone might be able to confirm if this issue has been noted on the forum before....

I have not seen anything posted before, sounds like a new problem. At least Citroen are aware of it

See this on one other Cabrio, the TB advises lubrication of the guide rails on the roof of the car. Shouldn't take too long to sort out for you.

Should be a half day job in my opinion.

I can see this being an expensive problem in the future when they are all out of warranty.

Bit like the ol' Z4 - After approx 7 years the motor needs replacing. Costs £1,000. XD

I think that would be like any motorised/hydraulic-roofed car.

Its quite possible that on the day the problems started when the temp was aprox 38C on other days the temp was about 20/25C no problems give a day or two,
the grinding noise has gone mind you so has the temperature, if you think about it the dealer wanted me to take a loan car at $35.00 per day + petrol so that get some pay back, Two days X 200k round trip that is when the S*** hit the fan, the parts have arrived the manager has gone on a sick leave wonder why?

No, a lot work. S2000 doesn't have issues. The Z4 motor isn't waterproof so literally rusts away

I had the 'machine gun' noise when the roof was closing from roof position 2 to 0. My partner had a look and found that the rails were so dried up that one of the wheels had locked up and instead of rolling it was dragging and juddering. A careful bit of wd40 and it's stopped! The risk of moving the roof when it judders is it can jump off of the rails and won't align properly.

Not sure if anyone has this other issue with the roof and can help, but when the roof goes from position 2 to 3 (fold down of the rear windscreen) it makes a horrendous and loud squealing noise!! Tried WD40 but we can't seem to target the right area as theres quite a lot of movement back there when the real windscreen folds down, it does the same thing when it comes back up again too.

Worth putting the roof all the way down then greasing all the runners you can see? Then when it comes back up it should spread the grease out a bit.

I’ve always been told WD40 is only a temporary solution for mechanical things as it can work as a de-greaser. How true that is I’m not sure.
