I want to take the wheels off to clean the insides. How? Is there a special size socket for the nuts ? How do I get the cap off to reveal the locking nut? I feel a bit of a numpty asking these questions but rather than scratch the wheels or the nuts Id rather ask

You should have a plastic tool to remover the nut covers with your jack in the boot.

As Pete says, you should have a plastic tool to remove the nut covers, if not then they're cheap from your dealer / eBay.

What if you don't have a spare wheel. But a compressor and sealant for when you get a puncture. I could not see the '" nut cover " removing tool in the wheel well. Looks like I will have to make one myself.

As I said, they are cheap from your dealer / eBay, around £3 IIRC.

Well that's a bit tight, even if you have a DS3 without the spare wheel you still need to be able to remove the plastic caps etc

I imagine from new they should have them, unless you have a shady dealer. My first DS3 didn't come with a spare wheel or a can of goo, foolishly I never checked but thankfully it was never required.

Yes I would imagine that from new ,you would get all the kit .I got mine 18 months old and all that's there is the compressor. Looking at how much the kits sell for on e/bay ,there is a market for relieving used cars of them .

Nope the tool only comes with the spare tire kit. Everyone else is just stuck, in Citroens mind they would use the goo and then head for a tire shop and not be bothering to do any work on their own cars. That is what the butler is for!
