  • THP 155 power issue? Anymore else had these issues before?

Hi chaps, seem to be having a few issues with our 155THP ds3,

1st issue is the car today in 6th gear doing around 65mph, foot down going up a slight hill on the motorway, it started to accelerate and then it juddered for 3 times, and was felt inside the car quite badly, but on the return journey, car was absolutely fine!??

Another issues is coming from a pull off, can hear a howling sort of noise which appears when your lifting off the clutch pedal?? Not all the time but will do it once or twice a day, and not regular which is very odd.

What I have noticed , when you Rev the car in neutral , it doesn't rev up as sharply as it should, kind of splutters..
Car has done 27k and run since I've had it on 99 octane..

Does this sound like clogged inlet valves??

Done a quick scan via the obd port and No Errors were logged using a universal obd port dongle I got on eBay that was recommended on here.

    Any ideas?

Cars booked in the dealers on the 9th July, so some ideas would be good to get them to check..
Car is a 62 plate so still under warranty.

    Steve

Could well be carbonned up inlet valves, and maybe clutch squawk

    Ive had/got both

Surprised you've got no fault codes as a misfire, maybe keep torque pro running real time

          27k miles
          Carbon build up = Judder.
          Walnut blast = Joy.

Thank you for those that have pretty much said what I think is at fault, weird that the clutch squawk as you say Chris isn't there all the time.
Toying with going for a cabrio and get shot of it if the dealers don't agree with what I thinks wrong.

Why not use the forum as a reference point if they put up any contest. It's a well known fault with the THP engines. Not just in the DS3's.

My clutch squawk used to be twice a journey. now about twice a month. Think its a bit of plate dust build up

Whilst trying to show a mechanic the noise, he suggested pulling away with handbrake on
Clutch burnt a bit, but the squawk pretty much went- not that Id recommend it, its just what helped

Ed- Stutter could be HPFP too

Just to update the post... Car went into Citroen dealership today and it's confirmed that the inlet valves need cleaning, and have requested the car back on the 20th July whilst they get all the parts in, and they expect to have the car for 2 days.

Unsure if they will just remove the cylinder head to do the job, or is it easier to take the engine out and do it??? Cannot find any info on this, hoping they will have to change the timing chain at the same time???
                  Does anyone know?

                  :lemon:

Also they are replacing one of my Alloy wheels under warranty due to white worm around one of the alloys..

Last November they did mine, and they didn't remove the engine, nor remove cylinder head
The engine came back with what looked like dirty water splashes all over

They have a machine similar to walnut blasting, just connect it up and away you go
they didn't wanna tell me much, but it sorted the problem which hasn't returned in the last 8000 miles so it must work

Oh and they couldn't find the clutch squork either... Didn't make any noises, and tbh , trying to describe a noise like that and when it does it, would be like trying to find a fart in a jacuzzi... very odd.

Well I hope my dealer has your machine Chris, as I would much prefer that , but if they take the head off off to do the old fashioned way, I guess that would mean a new timing chain would have to be replaced at the same time??

Wish theyd changed my timing chain. it don't sound too healthy... mind you it never has lol.

They cleaned the inlet valves on my car about 3 months ago, but it hasn't really helped, the stutter was back a month later. Also, my timing chain is starting to rattle every time I start. In the two years before it only did that a handful of times. The fluctuating RPMs when idling seem to be gone though...

Well mine is in the garage just to update, day 2 when the car should of been ready to have back, but received a call saying it's gonna run over into day 3.

The head is being removed that I so now know for certain, but other then that, can't wait to have him back..
