Yes received mine back after 2 and a half days in the garage, cylinder head was removed and a full decoke was carried out by stripping the head and cleaning out the inlet tracts.
Car now is much smoother on fly up and doesn't belch excessive black smoke on pushing on modes.

      T.S bulletin number B1aw011jqo.

They also changed the oil and filter so basically serviced it whilst doing it.
Can't argue with anything they done, also replaced one of bellion Alloys under the corrosion warranty.
Error codes that were logged were the following ..
      P1385, P2337,P2338,P2339.

Very happy with the customer service by Richmond Citroen. Cars handed back in a clean state inside and out aswell.

apparently there was only 2 "machines" to clean inlet valves in the country when I had mine done last November
I was lucky they got hold of one within a few days

        cylinder head wasn't removed

Just to update on this thread..

          Car is going back tommorow...

Car now sounds like a bag of spanners on cold starts for the 1st 3-4 minutes.

I think it's the timing chain, and I'm guessing they didn't replace, or the tensioner when the head came off and just reused it...

Not happy is an understatement , yet another visit , and no doubt , they won't fix it 1st attempt, and will have to take it there again once they also diagnose what is wrong...

Yep- sounds timing related, chain stretch, tensioner maxed out. How dirty is the oil, as a change helps with noise.

Mine is in again too, leaking a bit of oil, presumably from somewhere around the timing chain tensioner.. :-(

Day 3 and still car is at Citroen Main dealers, they have heard the engine noise that I'm complaining about but won't fully agree in saying it's the timing chain that's rattling, and saying it's because the chain tensioner is oil pressure fed and that when the engines cold, it can cause the chain to rattle to an extent.
I'm not sure if he's feeding me that story as far as I would think,it's a mechanical tensioner that isn't oil fed relying on oil pressure.
They hope they can have the car sorted by Monday.. we shall see .

Both my THPs had a rattle on start, worse when below about 10deg Celsius
Never lasts more than 2 minutes, so never think about it, just don't go above 2k revs till warm

So there may be something in what you've been told

Mine rattles on every startup too; always has. Quietens down after a few minutes but it makes the car sound really cheap.

Citroen seem to think the Turbo maybe where it's coming from, and not the chain tensioner as I thought, only because the chain would of been removed to do the inlet valve work..

Will get an update Monday as to what they think and what's going to be done to fix.

As I said Chris, it never did this prior to the decoke, so something is wrong and not a charactistic of the car. if any engine rattles at such lower revs then something's either worn or loose

The timing chain tensioner is oil fed, it's design is a set length sliding piston which is damped by a spring, the overal operation of the timing chain tensioner is known as oil over spring, the oil fills the void around the spring coils in the housing body, to become a sprung damped hydraulic sliding piston, the timing chain tensioner gets its oil feed from the electro hydraulic solenoid above, this solenoid has a very fine very small gauze filter on the body of the solenoid, this blocks up over time, from lack of engine oil changes, reducing the feed flow to the timing chain tensioner.

ALWAYS, change your engines oil at the very least 5-6000 miles, I've been saying this for far too long now, oil is your engines life blood, oil is also very cheap, don't scrimp trying to save yourself a few quid, if we look after our engines with periodic servicing, our engines will deliver, furthermore, ALWAYS, keep your engines oil level at the maximum mark, as the timing chain is splash fed, it's the splash feeding of oil which keeps the timing chain cool, and prevents premature stretching!!

Thanks for that Czar.. so what I was told is correct, and that possible turbo replacement is now a higher possibility.

Just hope Citroen can get these things nxt day and not be without the car too long

                              Ok update time ..

It turns out I was correct in saying that the noise was coming from the chain tensioner.

They have changed the tensioner, for a newer updated superseded item ref a service bulletin B1HW0180QU.

There also was a temperature sensor replacement as well part of a recall which that wasn't changed the 1st time the car was in a couple of weeks ago too..

Don't understand why if these items are removed from a car on a warranty job that it's not picked up at that point?? Rather then reusing parts that have some form of recall or technical service bulletin done on them..Who knows but at the least the car appears to be running lovely and smooth and I await the 1st cold start tommorow to see if that awful noise has gone.
