Sorry to hear that, been there too...

To answer your question about the price for a new engine from Citoren, I asked them just out of curiosity and was quoted 8500 Eur for a new DS3 Racing Engine, (I could get an assembled R3 WRC Engine for 11000 Eur, haha )

As for the rebuild as Dangerousfish said, it costed me about 2300 Eur...

Ouch!! Nah they haven't offered any deals yet, I'm waiting for them to tell me all the options, I'm on finance so hopefully that may help a deal.

Apparently the burnt piston happened because of the misfire and could have happened in one long trip of driving. I took the car in about a year ago with the misfire - due to a carbon build up, so wondering if I can say anything about that as they didn't warn me then.

If not, the car drives fine, I suppose I could take it to another main dealer and part-ex it with a new model and hope they take over some finance.

Ah right- out of warranty. Missed it was an 11 plate. Whats the month?

To be honest, would hope they would replace the engine for free, as it should last longer than that- 4+ years or just over. Unless theres been lots other issues

Keep on to them- they should help you out, unless they believe you've modified it.

So the deal came through today... 'exchanged' engine retail price of £6k! Citroen have offered to support, so I would have to pay £1850 all in all. Still waiting to hear back as I questioned a few things.

Ouch ! A £6k engine ??? As you suggested I'd be asking why you werent told last year about any problems etc and point out you did report it to the dealer then - if you have emails etc that will help too
