My 1.6VTi turns back a fairly consistent 40.9mpg running back and forth to work. Can't remember what it does on a run as I have had to watch the mileage like a hawk for the last few months in fear of needing to top up the oil so the centre display always stays on distance traveled haha

Yeah mine seems to drink oil quite happily. Not sure if I have a leak; my (more spirited) driving burns oil; or if it's just the engine design. Don't ever see puddles of oil under the car so it's probably one of the other two.

I wouldn't be afraid of topping up the oil, it's not expensive even if you were trading it in the next month. Always useful to have some sat at home in case things go wrong. Have you checked the dipstick lately?

I've been watching it like a hawk since about a month after I got the car. Worst findings were 500ml for 540ish miles in July and slowly it has improved up to the last check on friday just gone where it took 750ml for 1700 miles.
Only relationship I can make is the ambient temperature in july is 15-20 degrees warmer than now. Although I will be very interested to see the outcome next week when I get the latest faults checked out for the auxiliary fan and antipollution fault mentioned in my thread in the tech section

78 mpg is really impressive but I can assure you Autobahn will kill your mpg.

Not around here. Here is enough free road for top speed tests and not so much traffic jam.

Over the last 37000 miles I've averaged 72 MPG, but that's 90 percent motorway, but that is because I am old and sad.

We average 68 summer over 6000 miles and 60 winter over 6000 miles.

If I am carful on a run my record is 92 on a 300 mile motorway run.

Still aiming for the magic 100mpg though.

The car is a 2011 C3 1.6Hdi 100 and just approaching 100,000 miles and showing no signs of decrease in fuel consumption PS we have owned it from new.

Usually 38-40 now it's used for driving to work (bloody Oxford traffic) I used to get 45-50 when I was doing longer journeys regularly.

Here's some of my mpgs on my 115 diesel.

All one journey/trip out. The last one was Manchester, Herts, Lydden Hill, Norfolk, Bolton.

Remember lots will contribute to MPG avgs - how you drive, tyre health, road and weather conditions etc.

*Joni's admin tip* - MPG is too short a term to search, but if you use asterix's either side you will get some results
