loud when cold!

As it states, not all of the time but sometimes when starting the car on a morning there seems to be a quite loud rattly/clunky from my engine. starting to worry me now so its booked in! anyone else experienced this ???

Only had that in my m#n# clubman in the 80's when I forgot to open the bonnet and take out the wool jacket that was keeping the engine from freezing before starting my journey to work. never could wear that jacket again. Oh the 80's what fun we had, lol

I Always Recommend Leaving The Ignition On For A Few Seconds To 'Warm Up' The Engine Before You Turn It On,

What's that supposed to do? I assume that Karl THP has a thp not a diesel, no glow plugs to warm up.

It's Just Something I've Always Done Even With Petrol Cars...

Gets Everything Ticking In Prep For The Engine

Wont make a blind bit of difference turning the ignition on for a few seconds on a petrol

Mines the same (also a THP), 2600 miles and still does it but not bothered me enough to complain

It's the cam chain tensioner issue, and if left un fixed can cause timing issues and terminal engine failure. Get it to a dealer, as they need to fit a revised tensioner.

Can't edit my post, bit stupid duh??? But if it starts making the same noises when the engine is warm then is the time to take it to the service dept.
