well been to the garage, and after a bit of head scratching and blank looks, the boys scuttled away to talk about it quietly,, much to my amusement anyhow the outcome was................. it switches itself back on because of all the background functions draining the battery hence the sensors picking up the battery draining of power.

Well me being a humble girl, im not convinced because i asked the question '' if thats the case why is it not mentioned in the hand book? '' but no answer was given

So the outcome of this saga ''its normal for this to happen but if it continues bring the car back and we will look at it ''

sounds about right to me, my mini has stop/start and if i sit at the lights for too long with the heating/aircon/radio/wipers/lights on it will start back up.

O I love that. Normal, Bring it back, sounds a lot like they have absolutely no clue as to how the system works or what is "normal" for it to be doing.

To keep ancillaries topped up sounds plausible to me. After all ,be a bit crap if it couldn't start coz you had those on draining the battery

What setting do you have your air con set to? as in certain settings it will cut in the engine, well thats what i find with mine never had a problem with draining to my battery power and i have most things on all the time aircon radio etc

On Stop/Start cars the engine will fire back up on it's own if there are certain changes when in stop mode. The outside temperature is one, drain on the battery cell is another.

Will winter coming I would image the stop system kicking out more and more and the fact that most of us would be using the heater more as well as the certain drop in weather temperatures.

Our demo has been kicking in and out more because of this.

I don't think you have a problem and the dealer was right enough in their assertion of what is going on.

You probably are right, but they should have said so and not wobbled on about coming back because why would you need to come back if its OK?

                    Lol!

Maybe they weren't sure in their minds, most of the network is still getting to grips with Stop/Start and there are still training events going on for the Techs to go too.

Thanks for all the info guys xx
I will certainly keep an eye on things for the time being, as long as the car doesnt have any more technical hitches i shall be a happy bunny  I love this car so much even though i have only had it a month, strange thing is i never intented buyin one until my daughter went to look at one and i went along to make sure she didnt get talked into something she couldnt afford, well after 2hrs in the show room we both ended up getting one she has a blue/black and i have a red/black, and they certainly turn heads.

100% not a fault with your car. the engine will start up if the outside temp drops below a certain temp. it will also fire up if the battery is being drained. aswell as a number of other factors. also batteries drain faster in cold weather. ive dealt with start stop for a few years now. it just takes a while to get your head around it. but i agree you should be told about all this when you collect your car.
