Two small white foam pads have been tucked in between the windscreen and dash. I only noticed it a few days after it had been in the workshop (for a recall to check the front axle).

I didn't ask for it to be done, and they didn't tell me they'd done it. It's not obvious unless you look for it, but it's a bit of a heath-robinson job (anyone remember him?).

I got the impression that, while they had the car in the workshop, they ran through a series of DS3 "snag list" jobs. I didn't have time to x-examine them on what exactly they'd done, as I needed to get away (they told me they'd only need the car for an hour, so I waited, but in the event it was well over 2 hours before I got out of there).

Hope they manage to sort yours out OK. I wonder whether all the dealers have the part in stock, or whether they have to order them in?

Jesus! Personally, I'm just hoping it's not YTS day there today fella - and if they have to order it in, considering I'm still waiting for another part (another chrome add-on), well, let's just say I won't hold my breath.

Thing is, I certainly want the fix to be aesthetically pleasing you know, don't want a quick fix that solves the issue but looks naff.

I'm feeling quite scared right now!

I know what you mean. I'll put up with it for now, as it seems to have cured the squeak (which wasn't all that bad anyway, tbh), but when they next have it in the workshop I'll want them to do the proper fix (assuming it works, of course...).

Nah man, the rattle noise on my dash is well annoying! Just driving it in today I could here it rumbling away. I know I said before to turn the speakers up, but with 500 miles a week with loud noise to drown out the rattle, I'll end up with fecking tinnitus, so I'd really like this sorted. Plus, for a £15k+ car, it's not what would you expect to have to put up with!

Right folks, that Info-Rapid for the dashboard rattle is definitely worth getting sorted if it's affecting your car. However, I strongly suggest when you contact your dealer to make them aware of the fix and to possibly email them a copy of the document listed above because guess what? Dropped my car off today at 9am and just picked it up there now to be told that they've had to order the part from that very document that I handed over today when I arrived!

If whoever took my call initially when I made the appointment listened about the actual fix that I tried explaining about, well we'll never know. Anyway, after all that, it's going to have to go back in at a later date once this part arrives! Seven and a half hours! Amazing. Not faulting the parts or servicing department at all, more the actual reception for them, they're obviously clueless!

I'd have put a big chunk of money on them not having the right part in stock - but the fact that they needed to get the part-number from the document that YOU gave THEM is a bit worrying!

Surely it would be good practice to ensure that if a customer books a car in with a fault covered by an Info-Rapid, the parts to fix it are ordered in before the customer brings the car in - otherwise it's a wasted trip, like the one Rob had yesterday. Poor show.

Or a wasted day if you had to BOOK the day off work as a holiday!

I think the key thing here is when you're booking anything like that to actually speak to one of the folks that does the servicing/work and not just the dimwits on the reception who are quite obviously just there to take details and book stuff and not really paid to think! I'd actually offered to come down prior with the details because they couldn't find it the first time using the old 'computer is slow today', computer is slow!!! Other way round I think darlin'!

I whole-heartedly suggest you print off this rapid thing and take it down with you asking them to order the part PRIOR to you leaving your car with them. Last thing you want is for them to have the car all day to 'investigate' only to tell you to pick it up and drop it back again when they've got the fix ordered in!

Where are the parts coming from? Alpha Centauri?

                            The incompetence is breathtaking.
