Hello Guys,
signed up for this forum just a few minutes ago, since the car seems to be quite rare in germany and I didn’t find any detailed information in any major car forum. So, I will get my DS3 cabrio in a few days and have enough time to read a lot about all its problems, mainly its THP155 engine. I knew about its problems before buying, so I will not complain, it was a lot of fun during the test drive, so I bought it nevertheless. I think, there is not much to do about the chain-problem except regular oil changes, but the oil vapour problem can be solved easily with a catch can (like some of your guys did). But since you can’t find anything about these in german car forums, I still have some questions left on that topic:
Most builds I have seen have the catch can on the front outlet of the engine. But there is a second one in the back – is it necessary to put a second can on that outlet? Or can it be blocked with the plugs from the THP200 engine (I’ve heard that some people do that, but I’m not sure this is a wise choice – some even plug up both crankcase outlets)? Will blocking one outlet send all the vapour trough the outlet with the catch can, or are those two separated systems, so one will not be vented anymore? And finally, I have no idea how to attach the hoses to the outlet. I’ve seen some videos on youtube with mini coopers and it seems you screw in new fittings? But where to get them? Since the same (?) engine was used in the mini, would a set made for the mini fit my DS3?
