The maintenance manual has a coolant pump friction wheel!!

that's a centrifugal brake then surely?

The coolant pump runs off of this wheel that contacts the back side of the accessory belt as it passes over the main crankshaft pulley

right it's a friction drive wheel- no gears involved just direct contact
