  • Someone reversed into WTF . . . .

.....and of course left no details.

I have a few options and wanted your opinions.

It looks better now as I pushed the spliter back on but was out quite a bit.

    Inside

    Exterior scratches

My Dad as popped the clip back in to hold the arch liner back in, so its better.

They have reversed into that corner, my car was parked with the passenger side against the hedge, as far away from the other bay, so can only presume the idiot was reversing.

From my experience in the shape of a Jeep hitting my C3, I know that there could be more damage behind the bumper, but two garages said that this hasn't happnened, and at reverse in a car park, I don't think they would hit hard enough. So I am not worried about further repair there.

    Option one
Go via insurance, pay £300 excess and lose my ncb. If it was me at error I would do this but I don't fancy losing out becasue of something out of my control. The guy at Citreon repair said they would probably replace my back box as the twat kindly put a dent in the exhaust, just on the outside edge.

    Option two
Source spilter from Ross, and the garage will repair paint work and fix new spliter on, the bumper can be repaired to hold this. He said £250 and then on top of that I have the cost of the part. Also saw another garage today that are sending me a quote.

    Option 3
Remove spliter, smooth out scratches, prime and spray over with gloss black to match my roof, affix back on and repair bumper to hold. With the texture of it spraying would be the only way to repair it. Doesn't seem worth buying a new spliter to put on a less than perfect back, would be about £120. I am planning on getting the Leon front splitter, so I could get gloss to match the back. I can then see about the chip and scratches at a later date. Would repair the dent that the edge now has also

I'm less annoyed as I can't see it and its not major panel work.

Anyone have any thoughts or further suggestions?

    :sobs:

It's unbelievable that having parked in such a way so as to leave the maximum room for somebody to park in the space next to you, somebody has still managed to hit your car and worse still they've driven off without leaving their details

I think option 3 is probably the best solution, definitely wouldn't claim on your insurance, & if you still aren't satisfied with the results you could always have option 2 done later.

Yeah, I'm considering placing cones around the perimiter ¬ ¬

With 3 it wonn't be perfect, but this isn't an area that impairs the look or running of my car, so imo it doesn't matter what it looks like where people can't see.

Sorry to hear that.... So out of order, thing is I see this everyday as I'm always on the road in my van and people just reverse until they hit cars, that is their que to stop. 1 person who reversed into my van said that's what bumpers are for

I reckon option 3 sounds favourite. Would definately stay away from claiming on insurance

                Bad times

Definitely the 3rd option, as it only needs a little paint, polish and re-arranging.

Could see if any body at Trax (2nd Sept) could sort it, and for any replacement parts maybe!!

No CCTV? Option 4 is secondhand bumper (about £80?)

It's hard to see the damage from the pictures but I take the bumper is creased?

If the bump is minor than you may be better off just leaving it for the moment, the splitter idea you have is a good one and will save you some cash.

                          Thank you guys

No, the only crease is on the spliter, just scratched the bumper. Will probably go with 3.

Regarding the paintwork, what do the chips away people and such like do? At the base it has gone down to the primer/black surface.

hate seeing things like this, I like you, park as far away from anyone else as possible. Someone still always come and parks real close though

                            Option 3 seems best

So sorry to see someone hurt WTF

way to many dumbasses on the roads.
Just this week, 2 times I've had to hit my brakes to not get a car in my passenger side cause they dont look over their shoulder before changing lanes.

Hope you can get it sorted somehow.
and I would say go for 3 too...
