  • THP - Oil on rocker cover?

    Hi,

I have excessive amount of oil on top of my rocker cover, especially on the right side of it. Did anyone experienced this already? My first thought was the rocker cover gasket, but it doesn't seems that's coming from there.

It's totally normal in THP - don't worry.

mine had the breather pipe pipe replaced under warranty - that sorted it
Bog standard 2010 DSport THP150, 1973 Clan Crusader, 2003 Harley Davidson Softail, 2007 Vespa 250GTS, 2011 Peugeot Boxer campervan ,a few push bikes, and one eMTB

Any leak isn't normal but the seal for the side PVC pipe is total shit and a lot of cars have oil there. Like Old Git if its still under warranty get them to replace it.

Oil outside of the engine is completely normal?

Yeah - in that engine it's normal. It's not any symptom of any failure and it isn't anything dangerous - it's just too loose seal. Besiedes - it's not an oil - just oil/water vapour. My THP has it since the first day. :-)

Besiedes - it's not an oil - just oil/water vapour.and so the oil/water doesn't have any oil in it? My THP has it since the first day.Doesn't make it right just yours has been wrong from day one :-)

I think you may be under the assumption that your dealer is your friend and would be inclined to tell you the above if he couldn't be arsed with the hassle of fixing it...

It's nothing harmful - it's obvious...But as I can see - not so obvious for everyone. ;-) Besides you can fix it in 5 minutes by your self. Don't be so supersensitive guys - there are many much serious problems with that engine. :-)

Just because something is a small problem doesn't mean you shouldn't fix it. Especially if its still under warranty and will not cost anything.

BTW It's little problems that lazy people let go that turn into major problems latter

If you prefer going to a dealer with it and wasting your fuel and time instead of fixing it by yourself in 5 minutes thats your problem... I don't. :-) I understand, that some may have problems even with using a simple screwdriver but that fix is much easier than that...if you aren't handicap or extremely lazy... ;-D

Regardless of the ease of the fix, I'd much rather it be done (by myself or a citroen mech) than leave it to cause a problem later in life and possible spend a fortune on an engine rebuild..

Nice joke! :-) Well - don't worry - there is no such possibility that a small leak on a PCV hose can cause any engine damage. :-) That is as possible as hitting by a meteorite. :-) But as I said - you can go with it to your dealer to fix it if you don't know how to do that.
