    Hello all,

I am new to the forum and am a fairly new (3 months) DS3 owner.
    I've got a 62 plate DS3 1.6 Petrol DStyle+ 120BHP (couldn't afford to insure the 150 :'( ) with about 31,000 miles and no modifications.

I seem to have the same problem as mention in the original post but with a twist.

The symptoms are the same as described so I took it to a Halfords Autocenter (probably my first mistake, but lack of free time and them being open on a Saturday forced my hand)
They diagnosed the issue as a knackered front right wheel bearing, said it had some play in it, advised it needed replacing and gave me a quote.
After 4 days of them changing the wheel bearing, breaking and replacing the ABS sensor and an unexpected week off work, I got the car back to find the exact same noise and symptom as before.
Car is still humming loudly, which gets louder with car speed, doesn't change with dipping the clutch or putting the car in neutral and still disappears when turning right.

The monkeys at Halfords say they've ruled out it being the brakes by grinding down the (fairly worn) disc a little, have advised me to change all the discs and pads soon, stated there is some play in the left bearing, but not much to worry about for now and advised me to take the car to a gearbox specialist.

I'm not an expert on cars but I'm not sure I trust their advise.

Is there anything in the gearbox that would cause these symptoms? or are Halfords palming me off because they can't be bothered to work out what the problem is?

Thanks for any help in advance.
