  • Remapping

Hi all, sorry if sound bait out of touch, but just trying to get a better understanding of what remapping is and is it worth getting done, I have a e hdi dstyle plus 90 thp, I do around 400 miles a week traveling to from work and having only had my ds3 for 3 months just wondering if getting my car remapped be worth the money

Main thing for me is saving money on fuel, at the mo I am getting around 600 miles on a tank so if I went ahead with remap how much more would I get

Any advise or help would be great

    Hi

I had my DSport+ eHDI 110 remapped after it's 1st Citroen service a few weeks back, my main reason for doing it was to get better acceleration, torque and enjoyment from driving it. Jamie at SP Tuning did mine and I got all of the above and also a small improvement in mpg. I now get 600+ miles on motorway driving (with Auto AC on all the time) and around 550 from town driving and zipping down the country roads (again with Auto AC on full time).

To be honest I'd speak to Jamie and see what he recommends for you in terms of economy, I would recommend it to anyone who wants their car to be as much fun as mine is to drive but not so sure about massive mpg improvements.

I'm fairly sure that Jamie can do different remaps depending on what you want / need (economy / performance / balance of both).

So you could go for an economy one to improve the mpg. Best off giving him a call though.

Yeah I thought he could too mate, however as I was only interested in the performance option I didn't want to put Jamie on the spot as we'd never discussed it ! lol

          Seems legit...

Which Perth are you from ? Aussie land or kilt land ?

If you're from the UK I recommend giving Jamie @ SP Tuning a shout, he'll point you in the right direction

Surely the town driving mpg you have quoted is exaggerated or you drive in 6th everywhere. I barely managed 40mpg around town out of the 90bhp diesel I had for a few weeks.

That's low Lee! Lowest I get around town is about 50-52 and I don't drive like a wuss either!

Nope according to the trip computer I achieve or can always achieve (so fill up at 520 miles with 30ish remaining) 540-550, miles on a full tank with normal driving. If I completely hoon it then I might only get 510-520 max on the tank. On motorways etc i get 600+ miles on a trip to Southport and back

As I have read others with the eHDI 90 get better mpg than me but I preferred the drive of the 110 eHDI so I bought that.

Given the price of petrol/diesel I love the economy of the diesel but with the amazing power !

Lee I think you had a lemon, I get 65+ with just around town driving. Obviously the DPF delete and the remap helps !

What's everyones thoughts on voiding the warranty with the re-map?

I dont really have the money to fix the car if anything goes wrong so am planning to wait another year for the warranty to expire before remapping.

Biggest reason for me to remap would be economy but more power would be welcome. Is it true most people get about 30 extra bhp from the remap?

@Zack, whats your mileage now?, also concerned about the longevity I do lots of miles and dont want the remap to make it go pop!

Don't worry about it - you only live once !

Yeah around 25-30 extra Bhp mate,

At 67k now and had the remap done at around 20k, it's not going to make it go pop lol

I think Citroen or your dealer would need to prove that the remap is directly responsible for the failure you're trying to claim under the warranty.

I think when I was looking into this at the start, one of the Flashremapping told me something similar..... I may have been conned of course !

Ah here you go, this was what I was told

There should be no problem warantee wise - It is illegal for the manufacturer to deny a warantee due to an aftermarket addition unless they can prove that this was the cause of the failure

May get it done this summer then. Is this something you would have to declare with insurance?
