FYI, you might want to remove your posts about what mods you've had done to it if that's the intention.

Citroen caught me out in a similar fashion when I attempted to get mine fixed under warranty.

Ohh I will, I've heard about them searching forums etc, that's also the reason I have no pics, registrations or any other details about myself on this really.

Where are you Spiike? - we could always meet and compare engine noise Ha!
Mines done 5500miles and is 3 month old- can you make Brighton Sunday?

Just don't want to get you all nervous when things may all be normal- ive found the THPs r not the quietest of engines

You can hear in the video below what it sounds like on start up, eventually when the car is up to temperature it mostly disappears but is still noticeable between 2500-3500 rpm. Any suggestions?

That audible noise in your YouTube clip is the timing chain rattle.

              Take it in Spiike
The reason I say that is mine only happens on start up, and goes after a minute or two
Not aware of any noise through the rev range- will check it out

Should I take another video when the car is warm to let you hear the difference?

If you like, but there really is no need, you definitely are suffering from the timing chain rattle, this is generally caused by very low oil levels, CHECK YOUR OIL LEVEL NOW, that said, once the timing chain has stretched beyond it's working tolerance stretch limits, the factory fit chain tensioner is no longer any use, as the tensioners piston cannot take up the slack for the now over stretched chain, take it to your dealer and if under warranty, get them to replace the entire timing assembly.

Czar- Spiike says that the noise is like that on start up- then goes when car is up to temp- wouldn't that be normal?
Mine is a bit rattley for the first minute or 2, till the oil starts working as a lubricant I was guessing (That's why I let it warm for 2 mins before I drive anywhere)
Luckily I don't get too much noise after that. Been like that since I picked it up with 7 miles on the clock. Oil checked weekly- not loosing a drop!

It's far from normal, there should be no rattle at all from start up, different blends and grades of engine oil, as offered and recommended by the dealers or chosen by you, can and do make vast amounts of difference to the effective operation of the timing chain tensioner upon initial start.

I did top up the oil a couple of months, I used the same type of oil Citroen suggested, just a different brand, top brand. Think it was 5-30? Is there any specific oil you would suggest?

C'mon guys this is basic stuff, I know money plays a big factor in running/maintenance costs, that said, oil is your engines vital survival blood, when any engine is developed it is tolerance machined to work with a specific blend and grade of oil, and when we come along and want to play around swapping from this oil to that oil, sometimes due to cost, sometimes due to friendly recommendations, or indeed your own thoughts going with oils that have a higher heat shearing viscosity tolerance, EG: a 40 as apposed to a 30, oils with greater heat shearing viscosity tolerances are generally for the high HP engines, or track use!

I can recommend oils, however, what I use suits how I drive my engine, that said I still follow the recommended BMW MINI LL04 5-30 furthermore when I go on track with my road car, I do move up a grade, but then once off track I return to the normal 5-30 as recommended by BMW MINI.

My oils the oil it came with LOL
So hope Citroen knows what oil to put in its engine at the factory
Neither of mine ever needed topping up fortunately- but would go with what they gave me over the counter, specifying the model (And keep receipt)
Don't go with this "some may need topping up that's normal" malarkey. Oil is either lost, or burnt, or where else does it go?

Same noise as me and I check my oil levels bi-weekly, no matter what the oil level is still sounds like a bag of bolts has gotten loose in there. I just let my engine warm up for about the same amount of time as the air bag light is on then its smooth sailing. It doesn't do it when the engines warm, is disconcerting though. (Which is another reason I can never show the dealer..)

Had a good listen to mine this morning- seems fine to be honest
Still not silent as a graveyard- but my last one was a bit more rattly and never had a problem
Oil checked weekly- full up this morning

So Spiike- interesting yours as its a 155- wouldn't like loosing oil me tho, would then check daily- somethings happening to it, it doesn't evaporate.
Any surface oil on engine/ rocker cover/ under car when left overnight?

And Dan- yours a 150 or 155 (Think have asked that before)
I would park the car up outside the dealers the night before you book it in, and start it when the mechs are next to you (Better than an engine going bosh- and wont cost you anything other than hassle))
Agree that its much smoother when warm- and no hesitation for me.
If I got the hesitation would do the rear PCV delete. That's what I was advised.
