So far dissappinted with the MPG of our 110HDi. Have to admit that is general around town driving, but only 38.1 mpg! Wife does not drive it hard either. The first few weeks it was mid 40s, but seems to keep dropping without any change in driving style. Only have 950 miles on the clock so maybe it will get better.

Gareth...considering the thread is about DIESEL fuel consumption, would love to see anyone get their DIESEL DS3 up to 7000rpm

You might get a diesel to 7000rpm - once then bang!!!

Righto, thought I'd update this with the original data that I started this off with.

My DS3 has always been about fuel consumption for me, moving from a petrol to a diesel I was adamant to getting down from 2 fill ups a week to 1 and I'm glad to say that's been almost constant for me. Now, when I do fill up I reset trip 3 and keep trip 2 as my overall average - whilst I freely admit to a bit of grandad driving (I set the limiter to 63mph and keep the foot down - occassionally drifting on long downwards pieces of the road) for the past three weeks since I last reset both trip counts, my overall trip average mpg is at 61.3mpg along with the weekly trip on #2.

Although it says 61.3 on my trip, on my separate mileage app on my droid, it's telling me last weeks mpg was a tasty 60mpg on the knuckle. So all in all, it's been worthwhile for me, granted I don't do speeds to warrant 9mpg, but I don't think I'd want to anyway.

So did first long DS3 trip yesterday. 300 very gentle motorway miles without a single traffic jam.

I expected to finally see some decent economy out of our so far dissappointing 110 HDI, buy only managed 48MPG! Does this sound acceptable? 36 round town and 48mpg on a 300 mile gentle journey?

Is this the best that I can expect or is it likely to get better as the mileage increases. Starting to wish I had chosen the 150THP now.

After 3000 miles or so my 99g diesel is averaging about 55mpg. If I drive like an old woman I can still only get about 58mpg!

                    Was hoping for more

just done a trip from gravesend to leeds around 215 miles...had cruise control set at 70 mph and 50 mph for the roadwork bits and in the end got exactly 60 MPG average on the computer. im happy enough with that to be honest much better than the 17 MPG my old focus got :P

I'm now on about 8k on my 110hp diesel. I do a mix of commuting in the week and motorway at the weekends. In the beginning, I was getting 60 overall during the summer months, but over the winter this has dropped to a max of 56mg per fill. I reckon it's an average of about 62 if I stick to 70mph on the motorway, and the low 50s on my commute.

Due to fuel filter problems in the bad weather, that resulted in my having to pay for a new one to be fitted, I switched to BP diesel Ultimate as was recommended to me, and which costs about 8p more a litre than supermarket fuel. I was also told that I should get beter consumption from it, which would help mitigate the extra cost, but that's definitely not been the case so far.

Hopefully the warmer weather - when it finally arrives - will start to push it back up a bit. Still - when I think back 15 years ago to my old Renault 25 that averaged 16mpg....

I've only done 1000 miles in my 90 HDi - mixed driving has got me 50.5mpg.

Interested to see how this improves as the engine 'loosens up' and the summer months arrive.

Thank you to everyone has contributed so far, but just to plug the online collaboration spreadsheet again - be much appreciated if people could add their MPG figures to this so we can see what the trend is

Interested to see it is not just me that is worried about this! I picked up my "White" HDi 90 a few weeks ago, got up to about 230 miles on the clock so far.

Initially urban driving, driving it with a very light right foot and I was getting about 47-48mpg, which seemed good for urban driving, albeit not very close to the quoted urban figure.

However I just took it on it's first motorway run (after accidentally putting in Shell Optimax Diesel), expecting much better results. I reset the trip computer and did 100 mile round trip on the motorway, with a very small amount of urban driving at each end (no traffic). Set the cc at 76mph, and only returned 49mpg. Even my Mondeo Estate with 168k miles on the clock got over 50mpg at that speed and it weighed twice as much!

I've had a couple of Clios before that, I had a 1.5dci Clio which had a claimed combined figure of 65mpg, and at the same motorway speeds as above, used to return 56-57mpg. Even the Clio 182 I had before that could get close to 40mpg on the motorway if you could resist the temptation to gun it.

Now I never expected to see 70mpg really, but at least over 60. I can't even get close to the urban value with any kind of driving, so very dissapointed so far.

Do you think I might have a problem? Or do I need to take it for a blast to loosen it up and give it some time?
