With the diesel I find it's not the speed but the revs that make a difference.
Your car has hardly any miles on it so i would said that your flapping about the MPG at the moment. The thing is no-one does 'book' MPG and I would have to say that they would be naive to think they could. I always advise people to take 20% off the official figures and that is more likely what you will achieve, for your model I would suggest an average MPG of 50-55 with 60 being the best.
