2 quid for 6 fuses isn't bad, but how long will you have to wait for delivery

I stopped off at a motor factors near Warrington and he gave me a handful for a quid
Stuck it in and that night it froze again so haven't been able to use them again for a week lol

Having read about all these washer fuses blowing I decided to get a couple of spares, in fact a whole selection of mini blades, as I've never had a car that uses them before. The guy in the shop commented that 10A mini blades are one of their best sellers at the moment as a lot of people are having problems with washer motors blowing fuses!

sorry to bring up an old thread but had to contend with this today. Guess its that cold weather coming back.
Was fun driving in the dark with all the salt and crap on my windscreen.

Phoned citroen and they said replace the fuse, and yup it all works. Now to get some spare fuses

Had the problem last winter when the ice was thicker than now. Stick a 15amp in. It'll be fine and cope with the strain better.

Well i'm pretty certain when i replaced the fuse on this for the 2nd time it was with a higher amp rating. Obviously was'nt high enough because after this spate of snow its now gone dead again. Is anyone else having this repeat problem with their cars? Embarrising getting out a red lights and rubbing some snow on the window screen!

Probably stating the obvious here- but if you keep updating the fuse size, then the wiring will act like a fuse and the wiring will melt instead of the fuse.

Either a fault with the wiper unit, or there's a leak to earth somewhere ( a squashed cable touching metalwork)

                    Nick - ds3 dsport plus e-HDI 110

my other truck is a discovery 2 es - prepped to go anywhere

Just to add to the thread - mine had the same issue last week - we got down to -9 so I think the washer fluid froze in the jets and when I tried to use them it popped the fuse. I replaced with a 10 amp and increased the screen wash concentration and so far it's been ok.

Never had this issue in other cars though.

A fuse is merely a piece of wire designed to take a maximum current, then melts

If the fuse size is larger than the wire to the fuse, or any of the wire thats part of the circuit- the wire melts instead- Simples!

motor went on me today was going to phone dealer up tomorrow so they could have a look. i'll check the fuse first as the motor stopped working during a cold snap. if ive read things right its F3 and a blue 10 amp.

edit - sorted, was the fuse seen it was red 10 amp when i took the blown one out. the cover for the fusebox is a bit of a tight fit.

Chris you surprise me. That is indeed what a fuse does. Well done!
