I find the Toyo's ok but remember as yu are going down to 40 series you have less sidewall to soak up the bumps but also more bite in corners less flex .price is about 90 fitted black circle

They do Toyo TR1s in 45 (And 40s) profiles on ebay..... and they also say "All weather"

40 profiles are better for cornering etc. Less flexing, more grip...is that not right. Just bumpy LOL

        Don't believe eBay..LOL
There are three types of tyres:
        1. Summer tyres (Most common with a rubber compound and tread designed for removing water and gripping in temperatures above 7C)..95%+ of all cars have these as standard
        2. All season Tyres (A rubber compound capable of giving better grip in temperatures below 7C and above also..with a mix of winter and summer tread pattern) These can be fitted all year round..but suffer from more wear than summer tyres...Good on SUV's
        3. Winter tyres (More than one type but designed to grip below 7C and designed to work in snow, slush and icy conditions...some can also be fitted with studs in extreme winter weather...not allowed in the UK) Typically these will wear quickly in warmer weather, so should be removed in the Spring

Don't read too deeply into the OP, the car is used to take the hound out, shopping on a weekend or a hop to Southern France when im home. It doesn't go on the track, I don't give it large on Essex country lanes and I drive the car according to the traffic, weather and my personal skillset. Ive not had a point on my license for 25 years and the only accidents ive been in are where others have hit my car (with the exception of my Landcruiser being blown up in Iraq in 2010). I could spend £250 on each tyre but it would be pointless, something cheaper would be just as good for what I need.

I would not say they were bumpy thats our crap roads but they are cheaper and as you say less sidewall flex

40 profiles also leave more room for lowering with the use of coilovers, for track use

Superfly. We all have views, doesn't make yours wrong, and I can understand where you come from. No worries
I try not even go out in snow, and as for cold and wet roads, people should drive for the conditions, and that's usually round town where most people back off a fair bit

As said most if not all everyday tires are made for quietness and all round grip so you get a compromise tread pattern Winter tires are made of softer rubber more blocky tread pattern to clear the snow from the tire with normal road tires the tread gets full of snow and then no grip.

If I did more winter driving I may consider this type but as said before the road are jammed with dicks who cannot drive period in the snow even if studs were fitted

You can pick up whole treads on any motorway and glue them on your tyres

I prefer the marbles from the F1 tyres, bit fiddly to stick them all on after picking them up on track though

Did that a few years back had a set of mud and snow tires went for a blast down the M1 and could hear loads of rattling on the underneath of the motor it was the tread blocks falling off lol

So in the UK winter tyres are not mandatory in the winter? And also stud tyres are banned? Here up north we have mandatory M+S (or stud) tyres from November to April I think. Personally I use studs.
