  • Oil Catch Cans, single or dual?

Hello all, hoping the brains trust can help me out a little with this one.

So fitting an OCC to the front PCV is not uncommon at all, and something I was in the process of ordering and fitting. My question though, is it worth the extra cost and difficulty in fitting a dual so as to also have the rear PCV going through a can too?

    Thanks in advance, Tim.

It would help in the long run definitely. though if the carbon build up is already on the intake valves, then Walnut Shell blasting the intake ports is the way forward.

    is your THP remapped?

In case your wondering the pic is the port in the intake manifold for the rear PVC line. You see all that brown shit, that is not good for your engine.

Deffo fit one. Did my front 2 month ago, back before next winter
          You done yours Cyclone?

Ed- personally i would go for 2 singles, rather than one double- but hey, that cos i have a single fitted. You can have a sight on the front, but not recommended on the back, and you can tell whats coming from where, too

Thanks everyone, I had thought of going the 2 singles route too Chris, seems easier to fit that way. I have seen where Jamie has his fitted, the dual I think won't fit there with the standard air box (I think)?

Toxic, it isn't showing any hesitation, knock or roughness. Although I'm sure there will be a walnut shell blast at some point in this car's future. This purely a preventative mod given the susceptibility of these engines to carbonisation. It isn't remapped, but the can(s) is going in, in anticipation of a remap.

Yes tch - to fit a twin one, you have to remove the airbox, as Ive seen Jamies
With 2 single cans, you cant fit one behind offside headlight, and the other near the water washer bottle (Thats my intention, as I already have an air horns compressor located there which i can remove)
Apparently the pressure on the rear PCV is a bit higher, so a sight tube is not recommended. But the front one I have has a sight tube, and it dont half help.

No worries- if you want the details of the fella i got my catch can from let me know- he does 10% off his ebay price, if dealt with direct
Its a good can. he supplies the pipe too, but not the bracket, although he wants me to give details of the bracket so he can set up a kit

I am running single setup on front. I've been considering on double, but it is too much hassle.

I am going to follow the advice of the "big boys" and my next mod will be WMI, hopefully in end of summer / autumn.

Too much hassle compared to walnut blasting? maybe not.

Running a single can but rear pvc line is rerouted to run through the can along with the side pvc line. Exiting the can back into the intake tract before the turbo. The intake manifold port is caped off. Been several thousand miles now and no problems with this setup so far.

Have considered this, but didn't dare to do it. Good to know it will work fine.

You'll need a lot different angled and reducing hoses to do the pipe work, make sure it's strongly reinforced for the rear PCV, else it will close up under vacuum.
