The answer was to wait 3 seconds (seems like a long time!) after depressing the clutch - allows the revs to drop before selecting reverse, as there's some sort of braking effect involved. Sounded like b*ll*cks to me, but I'm going to give it a try (though I normally reverse onto my driveway so I can drive straight out in the mornings).

Sounds like the clutch is not disengaging or slowing the shaft down before you can select the gear. Could be a linkage issue since it is only one gear or the clutch/pressure plate. Get another dealership to have a look. Is there any rapid Info's on gearbox issues?
I'm having to double clutch to get mine in 1st and reverse sometimes... If it keeps doing it I'll have to take it in. Some students just like to try and force it *Sigh*
