  • Putting my DS3 into reverse

I wondered if anybody had come across finding it harder to put it into reverse?

The rest of the gears are fine, might be nothing.

It can be a bit stiff when cold (waheey!).

Does it happen all the time?

I usually reverse park so I can just pull away when leaving.

Sometimes you need to lift the clutch and depress it again, just a quirk of the car.

I didn't even think of that, I'm pretty sure I've done this in nearly every car I've owned, I must do it automatically now, lol.

              I get this sometimes.

1st service was Monday, and I mentioned it.

The answer was to wait 3 seconds (seems like a long time!) after depressing the clutch - allows the revs to drop before selecting reverse, as there's some sort of braking effect involved. Sounded like b*ll*cks to me, but I'm going to give it a try (though I normally reverse onto my driveway so I can drive straight out in the mornings).

Sounds like the clutch is not disengaging or slowing the shaft down before you can select the gear. Could be a linkage issue since it is only one gear or the clutch/pressure plate. Get another dealership to have a look. Is there any rapid Info's on gearbox issues?

I have to do this in mine. Was the same in my Pug too.

I think its first thing in the morning and so It could be damp or cold related and luckily not in any other gear

I'm having to double clutch to get mine in 1st and reverse sometimes... If it keeps doing it I'll have to take it in. Some students just like to try and force it *Sigh*

I have had very few difficulties getting it into reverse. Only a few times in the morning.

Doesn't matter how muck knob waggling you do just follow this simple step.

When planning on going into reverse put the box into neutral, lift the clutch and then press it down again and then engage reverse gear.

Trust me as I've been working with Citroens for over 10 years!

Knob Waggling, is that some sort of Citroen code for something else

I will try that, but its still stiff and hard to get in (I can see someone taking this elsewhere)
