One thing to watch out for is that you need to adjust the head-unit settings for each source individually.
It took me a while to discover this. Having dutifully followed the advice on here and set the options to Classical etc etc, to avoid the distortion and booming, I then noticed that while it sounded fine on FM, on USB and CD it was not as good. When I checked, I found that the head-unit was reverting to the original settings when using sources other than FM. After adjusting the settings individually for each source (radio, CD, USB, AUX, etc), it now sounds great whatever source I'm using.
