That kit won't work in your car, which store did you call ?
Standard head unit work on the high output circuit, anything on RCA connectors use low level as there is an additional amp to increase the sound level, an adapter loom is available from auto lead that has RCA outputs but again this is not as good as getting a aftermarket head unit with pre outs.

My best advise would be to get a new head unit or an aftermarket sub / amp pack like the Focal bus i20 or vibe Liteair
Optisound as these have the required looms to connect to the back of the head unit for power without having to go through bulkhead of your ds3 to pick up power from the battery

    Hope this helps

Ah I'm being told different things lol. It should work as i got in contact with somebody who has done it with the same kit. Apparently changing the head unit changes ur insurance?

Yeah as much as I want this sub, for now im not going to risk it (would look embarrassing as I configure car wiring harnesses for a job lol) Am thinking about getting the standard citroen sub for time being (if thats possible?) thanks for all you input. Will come in handy at a later date!

Im sat here stunned at this thread, firstly it is possible to add a sub woofer amplifier to ANY car radio, the science does not change regardless of the car. Im also stunned at the halfords blowing radios up comment and then people still trust them to do the install afterwards. My advice is to go to a local specialist shop who will sell you a proper bit of kit, advise you and also set it up properly.

Can i also ask why are you adding a sub?? if you add a sub without changing the front speakers it will sound terrible. if you look at the musical scales and frequencys of music a subwoofer only plays a tiny percentage of the spectrum, your money is better spent on front speakers and dynamt.

The powered subs are a great way to add bass cheaply and lets face £40 is really cheap. Just get it fitted and set up right. it may not then overpower your speakers.
