Most definitely "pull like hell" and try not to hurt yourself. Fairly common for people to hit themselves in the face when it finally comes off

How does the leather handbrake cover come off. Mine has somehow got damaged and I need to pop a new one on. I can see that the chrome collar next to the release button turns, but don't want to start levering with a screwdriver yet. I suspect that it will be evident when the new handle turns up, but I like to dismantle things with love, rather than brute force
