Do like Southend walk on the pier although was a good few years ago pretty sure there is a carpark on the seafront , as for getting lost CBLUE get a satnav makes it so easy

That route sounds good, think it would be a good idea to meet there because as u say parking anywhere on the seafront can be a nightmare, especially if there is a few of us. I will definately be along for this

Hi Guys, the best road to stock is a road called stock lane (yup), in the middle of ingatestone, its a proper drivers road! Only thing is it has been closed in some form over the last couple of weeks, i will take a jaunt down their now and report on its state. I sent AJ a map and i think thats what hes planning on using. Its a nice bit of essex your going to be driving through and deeply jealous! I can meet you guys in the morning as i would need to leave brook street at around 9.40 to make it to work on time. Really annoyed i cant make it but only get 1 day on the weekends off and i have a gig in the midlands on the Saturday.

Oh and if anyone is still around after 7 i can pop up, although thats unlikely lol. Blame our fantastic government and our lovely new opening hours! One thought is i may be able to swindle two extra hours starting work at 12 instead! Il ask tomorrow.

Well I think I have a route planned for our jaunt to Southend on Sunday 5th August.

Suggest we meet at the Nags Head Brook Street Brentwood
Address is 44 Brook Street Brentwood CM14 5ND

The plan is to have lunch somewhere in Stock which is between Ingastone and Battlebridge and then drive into Southend on the A127 for Cup of Tea of Coffee. This is a scenic route and takes in Hanningfield Reservoir which you may wish to throw me into if we get lost as i am a hopeless map reader!

Only problem is that I have never been to Southend and am planning the route using Google maps based upon a suggested route from Bensds3
who is working and cannot change his shift.

More details later but please remember this is a fairweather jaunt and may be cancelled at the 11th hour

Proposed route as follows:

Initially I propose that we all meet as close to the M25 as possible and then travel together into Southend but using a scenic route with a stop off at a pub in the country for liquid refreshment (non-alcoholic of course) and a spot of lunch.

Our meeting point being the Nags Head in Brook Street.

Off at junction 28 of M25/A12 and follow signs to Brentwood A1023 Brook Street. Past the Holiday Inn to your left and just before the traffic lights turn right into the car park of The Nags Head 44 Brook Street Brentwood CM14 5ND opposite the Magnus Vauxhall dealership. Suggested ETA 11.00 am.

We then together, travel back towards Junction 28. Follow signs for the A12 Chelmsford/Harwich. Heading eastbound on the A12, turn off at Junction 13 Ingatestone. In the centre of Ingatestone turn right on to Stock Lane to Stock.

LUNCH:

There are two pubs in Stock:

The Bakers Arms, Common Road CM4 9NF and The Bear Inn, The Square CM4 9LH, but The Bakers Arms seems to do more traditional pub grub.

After lunch we head for Southend passing the Hunningfield Reservoir (Photo opportunity) over the A130 through Battlesbridge. At Battlesbridge we pick up the A127 and head for Marine Parade Southend on Sea.

After parking up go for an ice cream and take a stroll along the seafront and maybe on the pier?

Ok AJ, i will speak to my boss but i will likely be able to meet and say hi if i start work at 12 instead of 10. This is entirely possible as brook street is part of my commute (of doom). One problem you have is that i checked out Stock Lane for you and it is indeed closed. Might i suggest swan lane, another route into stock, about a mile north of there. from my experience is a nice drive but doesnt off the speediness of Stock lane lol. Im planning to have my goodies fitted by then. Fingers crossed.
