  • Santa Pod DS3 day next June/July

Just Gauging the interest in organising a DS3 trip down (or up) to Santa Pod next June/July in Northamptonshire
I've been a few times to the Run what You Brung and its a great day out.

I'm new to the forum but think it would be a good excuse to meet up with like minded people and give the cars a good LEGAL thrashing.
    the web site is http://www.rwyb.co.uk/index.htm

the cost is £10 entry per person and £25 for unlimited runs

I personally would recommend no more than 4 runs as your clutch/gearbox and engine can take a bit of a pasting (driver commitment depending)

They have food and drink stands as well as toilet facilities and you can wander around the grandstand and all the way up to the finishing line (behind the barriers obviously)
the only thing you'd need is a crash helmet if your car is likely to top 110 MPH at the 1/4 mile. I would be surprised if many will need to worry about that but thought forewarned is forearmed lol

Anyone interested shout up and I'll get some dates in place. I picked June/July as there is less chance of rain. The strip is closed whilst raining for safety reasons.

Maybe we should consider the NATIONAL at Santa Pod?

I would say that it would cost us too much to have a separate area for the event. Also if we wanted traders to attend then Santa Pod would want a fortune off them to have a stall. What do you do after 5 ds3's go up the strip? Not everyone owns their car for it to be the fastest. You have to cater for the majority and I would say out of the 23 cars that attended the National last year only three of them would take to the strip. Last years event cost over £400 some of which has still not been recouped. I'm stupid and paid for it but not want the burden of high costs from Santa Pod. I can ask though.

Only a thought DS3ADI- all options should at least considered I would think

                    Lead thread says £10 entrance

Lots of other cars to watch after the DS3s go up. I mean weve done the Museum now havent we
And not many stalls turned up at Gaydon!!! Those that did were appreciated by all.

Only a thought. Its good to think

Yep entrance says a tenner but thats hardly a special DS3 club only day is it and thats what the National is supposed to be.

As for the stalls, there were supposed to be more but we were let down at the very last minute after six months of hard work. Replacements couldn't be found at less than a weeks notice.

We may have "done" Gaydon but from my tentative inquiries it still remains the cheapest option and that is why clubs go there year after year like Renault Sport, Mini Owners Club etc.

I am open to any ideas as long as the National remains the event it is and not just another meet.

You know how hard it is to organise from your Nurburgring efforts. I thought I had retired, lol.

Anyway back to the thread, Santa Pod good, will try to get FCS date as quick as I can but prob not before 13 Nov

I hear what your saying about turning it into a full blown event but agree it could be very expensive and I don't want to tread on anyone's toes. I think perhaps it would be better to keep it less formal and just make the best of the facilities they have there.
Its up to you guy's but I would imagine it would take a hell of a lot of organising and I hadn't planned on anything like that lol
