More busyness tomorrow. Off early to pick up some 18mm hardboard for a new PC desk then Richer Sounds to pay for the new TV, Sound base and Blueray player.

What Bluray player did you opt for?...Interested in how your setup works out with new TV and Soundbase.

Sony 7200, ive read some great things about them and as Sony have plenty of experiance in BRD with the PS i thought id play safe. It will be going in the main room to replace the PS4 which itself will go into the cave. The 55" in ch TV will also go into the main replacing the 50" which will move to the cave. Probably also use the Cambridge TV5 in the mainroom as the Q-Systems is great for big noise action films but the Cambridge is better for general TV ie dialogue (so all the reviews have said), also the TV5 is smaller and will look better in the mainroom.

Looks as if you have fine tuned your systems in each room to your specific needs, which is great, not being swayed necessarily by the fad of the time in a retailer such as PC World/Currys etc. You have the result you want rather than the one the retailer wants you to buy! I think it goes back to the AV setup chat we had before about buying stuff that isn`t required. You can have the right setup for you, which is far better. Hope you enjoy it.

I have been building custom PC setups for over 15 years so know its all about choosing the spec that meets your current and future requirements and about the functions you realistically use rather than those that are pure gimmicks.

My HP laptop now serves as a subtly hidden media centre below the Sky+ box. It is a decent spec quad core (8gb ram) intel machine running an SSD for OS and progs with two 2.5 hdds attached via USB for films, music and TV progs. Its connected via HDMI and runs from a nice little wireless media keyboard, a great use for a redundant laptop.

                    Very cheerful!

When did you get a 2 headed dog?

What software are you using on it? If you're on Plex drop me a PM with your username and I'll set you up on my share.

Runs W7/64 as does the rig serving the mancave TV. Il upgrade them both to W10 next week once ive a little more time.

All my media runs through iTunes including my blueray collection which has been ripped and stored as MKV or MP4.

They are not awesome when I'm building an IKEA TV unit and they attack my beard with a facial lick attack. Apart from that they are pretty awesome.

Just a couple of pics, first pic up on the wall while I'm waiting for the stain to dry on the PC desk.

TV is arriving any moment as long as the driver doesn't get lost ha ha.
