Yep 8 years as response officer or though as from February we are now called 'patrol and resolution team'! - basically I go to the grade 1 & 2's only.

Just a lowly special I'm afraid! Been doing it for 4 years now with Warwickshire .

I was a special for 2 years before becoming a regular. I'm a tutor constable as well so I train specials and student officers for their in-company period. our force would be lost without specials.

Same here! Probably true for most forces now to be honest the way it's going.

yes it can have a big impact but it's worked for me so far but there can be very long shifts, no meal breaks, cannot get time off etc but on the plus side I think it's the best job in the world.

I think you've got to have that attitude, otherwise you won't make it. I'm not sure that I do to be honest! The morale is pretty poor at my nick, and quite a few are leaving due to the cuts.

Moral is equally low in my force. We are all single crewed even on night shifts and we now cover the entire county so back up can be a long time coming. I cannot imagine doing anything else now though and I love driving so I'll stick with response for now.
