I have been to Rome nice architecture there. Very busy too not one of the cheapest places. How about eastern Europe. Say the baltic. I have been to Riga capital of Latvia I can say I enjoyed Latvia. Worth doing a bit of research

Ive been to a number of former Eastern Bloc countries and the problem is, outside the areas that cater for tourists, there is generally very little. Dublin and Barca for example are best enjoyed if you avoid Johnny tourist like the plague. Also come Oct/Nov it will be harry von Baltic in the East.

The Scandinavian countries are very nice but there isn't enough to do to fill 7 full days.

I've not been to Rome for quite a few years but found it pretty disappointing.

That's surprising, a colleague has been twice recently and said he loved it.

This was more than 10 years ago though. We stayed in a vineyard above Florence and went for a couple of days to Venice and one in Rome. I thought Florence was far better.

I went to Rome a couple of years ago. It's amazing city with so much to do, but don't go there expecting a relaxing break!

                    Granada, Andalusia, Spain is amazing.

We stayed with a view of the Alhambra. At Sunset it is incredible to watch the stones change colour. We visited the palace and had a wander around the gardens, very impressive with incredible 360 views from the top of the hill. Steeped in history, food was awesome and loads of little shops and restaurants to meander around.

Enough to fill seven days? il have a look if my local airport fly's there, or even Stanstead at a push.

I'd say so. I flew out for my Mum's Birthday and only stayed for 4 days. Gutted I wasn't there for longer. There's craft shops, museums, heritage sites to see. Its like a maze of cobble stone streets to explore. We also went to see a Flamenco show - I think Flamenco is from Granada. It's a very vibrant city

We went in July and it was ridiculously hot, October would much better!

We had a Villa, so we would BBQ some fish from the markets and enjoy a beer in the garden then go for a wander in the evenings.

That sounds ideal. Will advise the current Mrs SFG, standby TripAdvisor.

Because there is so much to do and it's such a busy city. Everyone drives like they've stolen it and nothing is slow.
