I signed up this year to become a Marshal with the BMMC and here is my thread to which I will add photos and comment as and when I attend Motor Racing events around the country in my official capacity.

Most circuits run "taster days" during the season, which give you a good idea of what's involved before making a commitment. It's too late for that now, but there are still a few meetings left at which you'd be made very welcome - if you can survive Anglesey in December you'll survive anything the British weather can throw at you! Now's a good time to be thinking about marshalling, as you'll be able to do a training day (most are in January/February) before the start of next season.
(Sorry, AJ, bit of a thread hi-jack )

Last weekend I was at the final round of the BTCC and the first weekend in November I will marshaling at the Truck Racing.
We had a busy weekend at the BTCC and some pictures of this will follow. All the training courses held by the BMMC are in January and February.
Here is a taster. I am the one in the Australian Bush hat.

It is best to choose a 'home' circuit first. In other words one that it is within a fairly easy drive from home unless you intend to camp or stay at a local hotel. Go for a taster day there before you commit yourself.
Remember it is voluntary and you do not get paid. You get £40 towards the cost of your clothing once you have decided to continue, fee entry to racing, chances to meet the drivers close up and maybe your fuel expenses paid for along with free breakfast.sigpic
