Good times and really good memories. Had the last bike alongside the first 2 cars, finally gave up riding when I had an accident and wrote off the bike, fortunately I only badly bruised my left leg and chest. As for the C2, I've had it for 3 1/2 years ( 18 months old when bought ), wish I'd looked round for one with the modular rear seats as the lack of rear legroom has been a problem on occasion. Still haven't decided whether to keep it or trade it in when the DS3 arrives.
Other than the DS3 I put a deposit on today, this is my other 33 year old Opel Manta Coupe tucked away in the garage at this time of year, owned it for some 20 years and fast approaching 30,000 miles from new.
First car I drove was my mum's car - a baby blue Vauxhall Corsa! mmmmm nice! At least it was freedom...
First car I owned was left to me by a relative - a Red Rover 420. Totally old man but with a bit of poke compared to the corsa! It was waft-a-licious!
Second car was a Rover 'Tomcat' Coupe with the 1.8VVC engine that was also used in the early Lotus Elise. I loved that car but it had a lot of Rover niggles... but that somehow added to its charm!
Third car was a Honda Accord VTEC Sport in black. Really well built and good road handling.
4. Renault Laguna - absolutely terrible
5. Rover Coupe - alright but didn't have the charm of the original and was getting a bit old.
6. (Current) BMW 5 Series (E39) - the 2.5 litre straight six is soooo smoooth. Very refined car with alot of torquey overtaking ability. Unfortunately some very generous person keyed the entire side of it for me, hence no pictures
Can't wait for number 7 - A DS3 White Edition (1.6HDI). Let the fuel savings commence + the ability to park in smaller car park spaces! Parking the Beemer is like navigating an oil tanker- HARD TO PORT!!!!!!!!!
