Now all has to be done by post, and calling DVLA and getting through a really long call waiting platform

DVLA can be very good - ordered my personal plate online on the 3rd May, Reg document arrived (by 2nd Class post) on 9th May. Also did my change of address for Driving Licence online and that took a week and was free !Comment

It can be difficult to judge at times though. The DVLA's processing time could be quick but you have Royal Mail's delivery times (which, from my experience is also usually very good) My retention request form was sent out on Weds 8th May so we'll see when it comes back

I didn't wait for DVLA to transfer my plate on my new DS3 as they said it might take a couple of weeks, I would rather pay the £25 extra and pick the car up today with the 13 plate.....sigpicComment

Thing is I'm part exchanging my current car and Citroen originally wouldn't take it with the private plate. But now they are and holding it whilst the plate change is processed.
I sent off all the documents at the beginning of may but the DVLA mucked it up. They sent all my documents back and stated the V5 i sent them wasn't the most recent one even though it was the newer red version. They advised me to order a new V5, at cost, which I did then whilst that was in the post they found that the original V5 WAS valid and that they just messed up the whole process! Posted all the new and valid documents off today so hopefully they won't mess it up this time. Oh and they refunded me for the £25 it cost for the new V5A bus station is where a bus stops.
